Title: Half as many treats challenge!
shygemini - August 1, 2007 08:40 PM (GMT)
Teach: I was trying to think about a doable challenge for the two of us...and i think for both of us it will be hard to stay totally on track this week, since you have the wedding on sat (i believe)..and i know what weddings are like...and i have my friend visiting for 3 days..so...
I pretty well have allowed myself to have an indulgence every day this past week, and i think you have been having alot of indulgences as well. I think a good challenge would be to try and half the number of times we allow ourselves to indulge...what do you think?
So that means i could indulge three times, which will likely be sat, sun and mon
What do you think?
TeachX3 - August 1, 2007 08:51 PM (GMT)
Excellent! Yes, I have been having 'indulgences' about once a day lately!! UGH!! SO this is perfect!! I have done well today my friend... not a single *bad* thing has made it's way past these lips... ITS ON GIRLFRIEND!! WOOOT!! :joker: Let's check in daily...
TeachX3 - August 1, 2007 09:48 PM (GMT)
Multiple times during the day if we want!
Is this a 'friendly' challenge? OR can I say... YOUR GOING DOWN! Just teasin... :P
TeachX3 - August 2, 2007 12:00 AM (GMT)
Shy, where you at? You need to talk me out of having a bowl of ice cream!

teach- JUST SAY NO to the ice cream! have something else that is cool instead...you can do it! maybe you should buy some real fruit popsicles (i have some) for when you have cravings?

Cherriterri - August 2, 2007 06:39 AM (GMT)
Great Challenge you guys!!
I love that you have come up with something that is totally doable for both of you!!
Good luck to both of you guys!!!!!!
:danceparty:
TeachX3 - August 2, 2007 02:02 PM (GMT)
Thanks Cherri! You (or anyone else) can join in too!
OK, oh ya baby, WOOOT! I have been awake now for 35 minutes and not a single treat has made it's way into my mouth!!
shygemini - August 2, 2007 03:04 PM (GMT)
no treats yesterday :D
good start teach!
TeachX3 - August 2, 2007 03:28 PM (GMT)
TeachX3 - August 3, 2007 02:17 PM (GMT)
UGH.
Yesterday was so good... each meal well done and light, water and my green tea inbetween... but then, at 9:00 PM I could not ignore the hunger that I was feeling and the family stopped in to Steak n Shake and I had a single grilled chicken sandwich and a strawberry yogurt fruit smoothie. :( AT NINE O'CLOCK AT NIGHT!! I consider the entire sitting a treat because it was a fourth meal and not a smart thing to do. Ah well...
How did you do Shy?
shygemini - August 3, 2007 02:55 PM (GMT)
that doesn't sound too bad teach: grilled chicken, fruit and yogurt :) If you are hungry, you are hungry! Sometimes we need more food then others.
I did good, i didnt have any extra treats yesterday :happydance:
TeachX3 - August 3, 2007 04:12 PM (GMT)
Oh good, thanks :huggs: 'cause my kids were saying "moooo" to me as I was eating it! :P "!!TEENAGERS!!"
TeachX3 - August 3, 2007 04:15 PM (GMT)
OH! and good on YOU girl!! You are kicken my behind!!

seriously???? wow, i'd have given them quite the glare
oh and, this weekend i'm sure i'll be indulging...so don't worry, you have a chance to get ahead of me!
TeachX3 - August 3, 2007 10:30 PM (GMT)
Yep, they were joking though... we have a strange family, we josh each other and pick on one another all in jest... it is fun and keeps the laughter and love more important than the 'crap' that life tends to dish out! They were teasing me, but to be honest, I depend on them to 'keep me in line' sometimes!!
shygemini - August 4, 2007 03:39 AM (GMT)
hehe oh ok then my family does that too ;)
i had a treat today
grand marnier cake slice...it was pretty small and pretty good
TeachX3 - August 4, 2007 04:18 AM (GMT)
My family had cookies and chocolate ice cream a few hours after dinner... I had none. :) Glad you enjoyed yours Shy!!
Princess2one - August 4, 2007 04:54 AM (GMT)
Teach, you resisted ICE CREAM. :danceparty: That deserves a gold metal in my book. I love ice cream.
Princess2one - August 4, 2007 04:55 AM (GMT)
You both are doing great. This is a great challenge. :happydance:
TeachX3 - August 4, 2007 04:58 AM (GMT)
Ooh, thanks Princess2one :huggs: it was so hard!!
shygemini - August 4, 2007 04:00 PM (GMT)
great job teach!! i shudder to think what i might eat today!
TeachX3 - August 4, 2007 04:49 PM (GMT)
Whatever you do put into your mouth, slowly enjoy each and every morsel to it's fullest girl!! Have a GREAT time!!
purrrple - August 5, 2007 01:23 AM (GMT)
You guys are doing :fantastic:
TeachX3 - August 5, 2007 04:39 AM (GMT)
Oh how I cannot wait to get back to 'normal' eating after this wedding is done and over with tomorrow!! UGH. I had an awesome breakfast, but then I did not get to eat again until 4:00 pm and it was fairly healthy but then after hours of cleaning and decorating the hall, my hubby and I had to stop into the Steak n Shake where I had a single grilled chicken sandwich, some cottage cheese and a strawberry yogurt fruit smoothie at 9:30 at night... again!! Seriously, I do not *always* eat this way!
Hope you had a great day Shy!
:huggs: Thanks Purrrps!
sapphire - August 5, 2007 11:48 AM (GMT)
Good luck, Shy and Teach! :cheer: You can do it! :cheer:
shygemini - August 5, 2007 04:34 PM (GMT)
Hey teach!
I did have a FANTASTIC day with my friend!!! :wooohooo:
I didn't do too badly food wise either! For supper i had grilled chicken breast (2 breasts) with pineapple salsa, wild rice and broccoli, a glass of red wine, and half a raspberry mango cheesecake for dessert...not too bad :danceparty:
Oh and apparently i eat slow  ...i don't know, i like to enjoy my food!
After supper we went for a walk and then to a movie, and i just had water there (yay!) then we walked back afterwards...not nearly so unhealthy a day as i imagined.
Hoping i do not too badly today either!
purrrple - August 6, 2007 04:38 AM (GMT)
Nice one Shy! Glad you enjoyed yourself :bouncy:
shygemini - August 6, 2007 06:24 AM (GMT)
today i had:
chocolate cake at lunch
shrimp and ham linguini for supper with a glass of red wine
half a chocolate cake with raspberry sauce
i had a great time but i'm just really sad now cuz my friend is gone :(
TeachX3 - August 6, 2007 03:06 PM (GMT)
You had FUN and lived your healthy lifestyle along with it!! WOOOT and girl, your friend will be back!! ;) You did great and I'm so happy for you... :huggs:

thanks teach! :huggs:
yes he'll be back...40 days...not that i'm counting (HA!)...but it sure seems like forever :(
TeachX3 - August 8, 2007 02:40 AM (GMT)
I have stayed within limits and have been 'treat free' these past few days!! :D
How long are we doing this challenge, Shy?
shygemini - August 8, 2007 03:03 AM (GMT)
i think as long as we feel we need to do it....what do you think?
we can make a new challenge for this week if you want to st art tommorow?
TeachX3 - August 8, 2007 03:44 AM (GMT)
That sounds good. Well, I believe we are both *winners* of this challenge... we did good in reducing the number of treats we consumed but did not deprive ourselves completely! ;) OK... let us 'step it up' a bit... how about:
No more than 3 treats within the week
AND
At least 3 full hours of some type of cardio
?? What'cha think?
shygemini - August 8, 2007 04:36 AM (GMT)
That sounds great.
I like this idea...and think we should continue it...basically adding on one new thing to the challenge each week so that it remains doable and yet we are improving and getting healthier each week! :bouncy:
I keep re-reading this and thinking i'm making no sense..hopefully you understand what i mean!
TeachX3 - August 8, 2007 03:37 PM (GMT)
Exactly Shy! :D
I hope the best for us today :cheer: We can do it!!
TeachX3 - August 8, 2007 05:13 PM (GMT)
30 minutes of cardio so far today :)
shygemini - August 9, 2007 03:48 AM (GMT)
i'm afraid i did bad today.
i had some ice cream and popcorn- maybe it doesn't sound overly awful but i didn't really need what i ate and so i'm not too proud of myself.
tommorow is another day!
TeachX3 - August 9, 2007 04:27 AM (GMT)
Well my friend... I *thought* I was doing OK... until I looked up the calorie content of the steak fajita I had for lunch!! *EEEK* I am so ashamed that I eat that!! It was over 2,000 calories for one meal!! SO... :( I did bad too. I also had a small margarita and then a chocolate milkshake later for dessert.
*sigh* tomorrow is a new day...

oh my goodness!
i have to wonder how they can make something that *can* be so healthy into something so unhealthy...sigh :huggs:
don't let it get you down. i was feeling really lost tongiht until i posted what i ate here and so i think this challenge is a good idea so that one bad day doesn't turn into a series of bad days..
and hey, at least you did some good exercise today!
