Title: I am motivated by...
shygemini - May 24, 2007 07:57 PM (GMT)
I am motivated by seeing the differences in my level of fitness, how much harder i can push myself while exercising.
I am motivated by the differences i see in myself, how i look in the mirror, how my clothes fit, being able to wear clothes that i could not zip/button up before.
I am motivated by compliments i receive from others, particularly when it is someone i would never expect to receive a compliment from.
I am motivated by seeing my weight drop on the scale, and my measurements decrease.
I am motivated by knowing that i am becoming a healthier person, and that the changes i am making now will help me avoid potential health problems in the future.
I am motivated by how the changes i am making in myself are affecting my confidence level. I am alot more open and true to myself now then i ever was before.
And lastly (for now)...i am motivated as i will become an Auntie in Sept of this year and i would like to be a healthy and fun aunt who is able to keep up with their niece/nephew :)

congrats on being an Auntie. From experience I can tell you it is great. You get to do all the fun stuff but give them back to mom and dad when they are bad!!
Also, great motivation Shy. It is great that you find motivation from so many places.

I really love this post! Very encouraging! Congrats on being an auntie! It is so much fun! Thanks so much for sharing with us. I love reading your posts! Huggs
I will also be an auntie to a new nephew this August! My sis is pregnant! It is bittersweet because my sis found out right after my mom passed:( But the baby did get to be in my moms presence because my sis had lunch with her when she was pregnant, she just didn't know it yet! :)

Great post Shy...I agree whole heartedly!
Another thing that has motivated me is regaining my self respect. Whether it was right or wrong, I lost my self respect and felt so bitterly disappointed in myself for letting my body get the way it did. I have that back now and have learnt so much about who I am through losing the weight. It has been quite a journey!

I agree completely, self-respect and confidence. Knowing you are fitter and healthier and look good too, it makes a huge difference. to how you feel when you get up in the morning
My motivator is remembering how good it felt when I slipped into those 38 jeans and found em baggy b :) ( I was being cut in half by 42" expandable waist trousers - Wearing 36s comfortably now ) and hang onto some old clothes and slip em on and be blown away.
Walking into a clothes shop and finding yourself confined to a tiny selection of clothes - no more.
Seeing ( and shuddering over ) old photos.
Seeing "that look" in someones eyes when they see you :) especially when they havent seen you for a while - very nice.
Lots of things motivate me, RL just gets in the way sometimes so thats why we have this forum, to remind us and help us get where we are going..

great points storm and righ!
i totally agree about the self respect, and the confidence. I can only imagine that i'll get more of "those looks" as i keep losing, as i am reaching the realm of weights i haven't been for 10 years or so. It is an exciting feeling.

Great thread Shy. Have fun being an auntie.
What motivates me:
- coming here (especially when I need a kick in the butt)
- my husband thinking he has a *new* wife
- my teen daughter now being willing to give me fashion advice
- my mom and best friend having trouble finding me in a crowd because I don't have the same shape I had for the past 13 or so years
- seeing my blood pressure drop to "good" level
- trying on pants from last year and realizing that maybe there is hope for my legs
- my 5 yr old telling me to cycle "slower" because the bumps are making her ill (in the cycling trailer) (btw her 10 year old brother was also in the trailer - lol)
shygemini - June 9, 2007 03:42 PM (GMT)
wow nic, great motivators!
i am impressed you are able to cycle pulling a 5yr old and 10 yr old...how much weight would that be? I am not basing the weight on what i weighed at those ages (i was always big lol  )
i really like "my husband thinking he has a new wife" and "my mom and best friend having trouble finding me in a crowd" :WoooHooo:

Excellent NicC :D can see you smiling from here
NicC - June 10, 2007 08:57 PM (GMT)
LOL -Shy I think they weigh about 140 together (+ another ten for all the school bags etc).
RIGH - :D (you were right!)

A cycle trailor, what a neat idea! I want one! - (Actually maybe I should think about getting a bike first).

This is a great thread...
stormgirl - August 13, 2007 02:46 PM (GMT)
..seeing my good friend finally getting to a place where she can start losing her excess weight. She came round last night and has already lost three pounds and has joined a weightloss group. I am so excited for her and hope we can start exercising together when she gets fitter. It was so cool to see her being so open about weight and chatted to me about it for a couple of hours :wooohooo:
