Title: I am frustrated
shygemini - September 17, 2007 04:01 PM (GMT)
Sorry gals, i need to rant a little...be warned!
I am just feeling really frustrated with myself. I have done so good this week with exercise. I exercised every day from wednesday-sunday, it was 4 h of straight cardio, 45 min of straight weights, and then 1 h of bellydancing which in a sense is both.
I just can't seem to get my eating under control. I am wanting treats all the time. I am back to having a snack late at night. Last night i even brushed my teeth around 10, and still ended up having a snack after that :(
I know what i need to do is to keep a food diary. And not only that, but calculate my calories and do the zig zagging, which i did do for one week and it worked great. I have no idea why i find this is so hard.
I can be frustrated with the scale going between 220-222 this week, but i know why that is happening. I guess i just need to bite the bullet and start counting calories religiously, no matter how little i want to do it. I don't know what else i can do.

It is so weird how we all go through this at different times... I have noticed my feelings of 'being on top of things and motivated' and 'being frustrated' are hormonal. I go through cycles on a monthly basis of highs and lows regarding my daily eating/exercising.
:huggs: to you girl and yes, do get back into counting, force yourself to start and once you see a positive change, you will be back on top of things!! :huggs: and no mater what, do not have a treat past 9:00pm... you can do it Shy!!
TeachX3 - September 17, 2007 05:18 PM (GMT)
Oh! and right now... I'm eating OK, but I can't get up off my lazy butt and move my body! UGH!!!
shygemini - September 17, 2007 05:42 PM (GMT)
hm....you are eating good, i'm exercising good...put us together and you've got the perfect woman!
you are right teach, it seems so silly that i can't make myself do this. I'm going to do my counting again, and if today has to be a high day, so be it. It seems not that long ago that i posted my epiphany about zigzagging and how well it works, i should listen to myself

I'm with you Shy! I'm in that same sort of frustrated slump. It typically occurs around TOM for me. For whatever reason I seem to weigh in 5 lbs heavier during this time which is so hurtful, especially when I have been eating so well. It is so difficult to stay on top of things when first thing in the morning you weigh yourself and you get a slap in the face. What is even worse is when you see that same number for 2-3 days straight, at which point I tend to give in to temptations.
You are doing great with the exercise though! I can't seem to get my butt in gear to do any sort of exercise. There always seems to be something else to do that seems more important.
Keep up the good work, and get back on the counting the calories. I have been doing this, but not posting. If you want I'll be your calorie counting buddy and motivate you to count your calories! We can do it together! Plus I love to see what you eat as the structure of your calories is awsome!
Maybe you can be my exercise buddy and help me get my butt to the gym
TeachX3 - September 17, 2007 06:26 PM (GMT)
WOOOT, I did it! I forced myself UP and exercised with stretches and cardio on the mill for over an hour!
We all need to head our own advice sometimes... why is it so easy to give and so hard to follow? We just have to make ourselves DO IT sometimes... dang, it is hard too! I cannot believe how many of us here on this board RIGHT NOW are dealing with TOM!! :grrrrrr: OMGosh, it is like we are on a schedule together... no wonder Righ has been sparse, he is scared to death to be here! :P !!! Seriously, I think worse than the cramps and all the other stuff TOM brings, is the mental game he plays with us!
Happyjaxx - September 17, 2007 06:33 PM (GMT)
Way to go Teach! (BTW-I love your new avatar!!!!)
Yeah, well I will be heading to the gym later this afternoon myself, but not becasue of my own ability though...They double charged my credit card this month so i have to go in there to straighten that out. Perfect timing though, I needed a reason to get there and low and behold here one is  Guess someone else saw that I needed a little extra help :)
shygemini - September 17, 2007 07:34 PM (GMT)
jaxx- i like the idea of being your calorie counting buddy, lets do it! :D i can definately be your exercise buddy...we can help eachother out :cheer:
i don't have the excuse of it being TOM though, TOM isn't starting until the end of september so still aways in the future.
you did so great teach to do exercise! i find it really helps during TOM, maybe not during the first couple days (which are bad days for me) but before and after. Especially stretching...really helps relieve cramps.
jaxx-- definately do something at the gym today! even if it isn't for very long, just to get yourself back into the swing of things :bouncy:
i think someone saw i needed extra help too! i was eating lunch and a friend gave me a "cadbury 100cal toffee chocolate bar" to try, and it was delicious! I think i'm going to buy these and eat them for treats, rather then getting something which is 100s of calories. They are delicious by the way, if anyone is interested.
I also know that you don't see results on the scale instantly from exercising. It normally takes a week or so, so i just have to keep up with it and things will turn around.
I don't know if anyone here is on facebook, but i am and my friend posted up some pics of me from 2005...and my goodness, i look like a bloated whale! I cannot believe my legs and arms (and face even ) were so huge! IT was good to see that today, again like another friend knew i n eeded a push to get my eating in order. I never want to go back to looking that way.
Lets stick together girls and get past this slump! :wooohooo:

Oh Shy! I know exactly how you feel. :huggs:
I go through these kind of things as well, both with eating and exercising. Sometimes it happens after a couple of weeks of having a good loss and I feel like I can coast now. Other times it is a stress response.
Don't beat yourself up about it!! You are doing great!!
I had the same experience on facebook Shy. I didn't post any pics of myself because I was not comfortable with it but a couple of friends of mine posted pics from a couple of years ago and it sure was a wake up call. I kind of wanted to tell them to take the pics down but I didn't. It's a good reminder of where I came from.

thanks cherri :huggs: :huggs:
i know exactly what you mean about the pics. i just untagged myself from a few photos i really didn't like. It is a good way to remind you of your progress though.

ahhhhh
now i think i'm getting sick, which could also explain my lack of scale movement. Its in my sinuses and sore throat, sniffy nose...urg. Going to go cuddle up in bed for awhile.
TeachX3 - September 18, 2007 02:49 AM (GMT)
Hope you feel better super soon my friend :flowers:
TeachX3 - September 18, 2007 02:53 AM (GMT)

Oh sweetie! I hope you feel better soon!!! :huggs:
purrrple - September 18, 2007 06:36 AM (GMT)
hmmm I went through a few months of being like that Shy. I just wanted to eat bad all the time and I did! AND I didn't exercise either! So put you and Teach together with how you feel right now and that was me! ugh!
I'm so glad that I got out of that slump...it also helps that my honey didn't want to keep eating that way either so we both stopped eating the crap and my exercise is slowly building up too :jumping:
count those calories Shy! you can do this hun...we all know you can :huggs: :huggs:

WOOOT!! AWESOME Purrrps!!
shygemini - September 18, 2007 02:59 PM (GMT)
thanks teach and jaxx! i am feeling *better* today but still not great. I think it is the most important to take care of yourself before you get fully sick. I"m hoping i don't get much worse then this.
Purrple- thanks! yes, i need to do this, i can do this, counting calories isn't the end of the world!
Suffice it to say that yesterday was a high calorie day. Next couple days will be low days.
shygemini - September 24, 2007 07:50 PM (GMT)
Ok, so one week later and nothing really changed  Mind you, i did get sick last tuesday and am just finally getting back to normal now, where i feel i can do exercise.
My weight is still going between 221-222 each morning
I know TOM is on the way and that affects things, but i still need to get myself under control. I'm thinking drastic measures for awhile ie bringing snack for coffee break (150 cal granola bar) and not eating anything after supper.
I really really wanted to be under 220lbs by the start of october, it shouldn't be too hard but i can't seem to get myself back under that number. So that is my focus.
stormgirl - September 24, 2007 11:48 PM (GMT)
Hey Shy, you will get there...illness is a real set back but once you feel 100% again and get exercising the sub 220s will appear. :huggs:
shygemini - September 25, 2007 04:02 AM (GMT)
thanks storm :huggs:
i decided to write off today but i promise everyone that i am starting on plan again tommorow! :danceparty:
Cherriterri - September 25, 2007 07:09 AM (GMT)
You can do it Shy!!
:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
shygemini - September 25, 2007 05:35 PM (GMT)
thanks cherri!
i think even if i can't exercise as much as i'd want to at the moment i will get my food in order.
Doing good today, brought a granola bar from home so i avoided having a 400-500 calorie cookie for a snack  I honestly think just doing this simple thing will help me alot.
Everyone is telling me i should just go home  We'll see.
