Ok, so my motivation has not really been all that high lately. I have been trying to come up with things to keep me motivated.
While on the treadmill I have always counted just the time, not the distance I have walked. I think I am going to change focus and look at the distance.
Here is the reason...
My challenge to myself. I want to walk the last long road trip I took. The trip I have chosen is when I drove to Toronto from Winnipeg through Canada, then drove back through the US.
The first leg of the trip is 2100 kms, from Winnipeg to Toronto. To get myself started I am going to count the amount I have already walked on the tread mill which is 504 kms. This leaves me with 1596 kms to go.
My plan is, to calculate how much I have walked on the first of each month and keep track of it that way.

I think this is a great idea. I heard there are websites that help do this kind of virtual walking tour, where you plot your course and your progress.

So I have ammended my little walk halfway across the country.
Leg one
Winnipeg to Thunder Bay - 704 kms
Thunder Bay to Wawa - 483 kms
Wawa to Sudbury - 527 kms
Sudbury to Toronto - 387 kms
Total - 2051 kms
So leg one - 704 kms
507 kms done
197 kms to go!
This way it does not look so daunting. I really like the idea of the small goals adding up to one big one.
Then I have to plan the trip home :lol:

I know, leg one almost done!!
I may have to ammend my distance goal for my birthday though. I figured it out and there are 23 weeks until my birthday so that means I only have to walk 7 kms a week to make this goal. I think that is being a bit easy on myself. :lol:
