shygemini - November 21, 2007 08:14 PM (GMT)
ooo what are you cooking up for thanksgiving? :)

i'm curious about why your salad was 300 calories? unless you had alot of sunflower seeds and cheese i can't really see it being so high....but i guess if it was a really big salad...

Princess2one - November 23, 2007 01:42 PM (GMT)
Hi. Shy. I cooked Turkey w/Cranberries, Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Baked Sweet Potatoes, Gravy, Green Beans Cassarole, Corn, Rolls, Salad, Heavenly Hash, Pecan Pie and Pumpkin Pie.

On the Salad I might have guess high, but I did use Ranch Dressing and its calories or pertty high (1 tbl. has 70 calories) Sunflower Seed are 180 calories for 1/4 cup and 15 grams of fat. I'm thinking about cutting them out, but there so good.

shygemini - November 23, 2007 05:27 PM (GMT)
that dinner sounds really good!

i wouldn't cut out the sunflower seeds but maybe cut back to 1/8 of a cup or a tbsp or something :)

Princess2one - November 28, 2007 03:07 AM (GMT)
Shy I used a tbsp of seeds in my salads all weekend and it didnt affect the taste too much, but cut the calories from 180 to 45, so thats great. ;)

I will start logging my food journal again tommorrow, hubby was off for a 5 day weekend, so I was to busy. Also TOM came this week, I didn't do too bad until yesterday when I ate a huge Chocolate bar. it served 4. :pig:

Princess2one - November 29, 2007 04:45 PM (GMT)
As you can tell from the post before this one I was happy with myself yesterday, until I when on to eat 2800 calories yesterday. I wont even post everything I had to eat because that would take forever!!! :pig: I really need to plan what I will eat after dinner then find something to do to keep busy. In my defence, it's not this bad on a normal day I have inlaws coming this weekend and I'm freaking out about the house, my weight, everything. Which has contined today, the first thing I had was 4 cherry pull-n-peels (candy). I though that they were OK, there fat free But 100 calories a piece, so I had 400 calories driving around this morning and I'm as hungry as if I had nothing. I hope to stop this crazy eating frenze with this meal and turn my day around. I'll keep you posted. ;)

shygemini - November 29, 2007 05:53 PM (GMT)
:huggs: i know 2800 calories sounds bad, but it is probably around what you need for maintanace calories...meaning that i don't think you will gain as a result of it. I know what you mean about eating junk and not feeling full from it...that is something i am trying to think about now with my calories..what will make me the most full for the calories i am eating. Maybe you should make up little bags of dried fruit and nuts (measured out before so you know the calories) to take in your purse with you? Or maybe a granola bar? Something that won't spoil. I actually always do this so i am not tempted to eat crap if i get hungry while i'm out somewhere. Now that i am eating regular meals and snacks if i miss one i get quite dizzy and feeling ill so this has become a habit to carry around with me.

Princess - I think you are doing well in your process (and it is a LONG process). Finding out where you are at nutritionally is very important. And if you hadn't had the cherry pull and peel you would've been ok.

I think the first step for you is to eat breakfast -EVERY DAY ( I can't tell you how long it took me to get used to it, I still have to force it some mornings) but it is so important for long term results. Don't worry about calories for now just make sure you have breakfast every morning (keep granola bars or something like that in the car if you have too). Once you get used to having breakfast every morning - start the diary again and figure out your next goal. If you make little changes over time it will pay off!!! I know it can seem daunting but THAT is what will work in the long run. :huggs:

The good news is you probably burned a lot of calories running around like a madwoman...

shygemini - November 30, 2007 04:27 PM (GMT)
I agree with nic! Eating breakfast (and a good breakfast) is so so important to weight loss...just as important as exercising and getting enough sleep. Eat whatever you need to for breakfast to get yourself into the habit. I started off with choking down a 1/2 cup of juice. Then i moved onto having a small container of yogurt...then two containers.....then two containers with 1 tsp almonds in it...and now most mornings i have cereal with almonds. Like nic i absolutely hated eating in the morning, the thought of it made me ill...and i would say i don't have time....there is always time, you just have to make the time. :happydance:
