Title: Got Some?

TeachX3 - December 31, 2007 06:07 AM (GMT)

Ugh... since I have been on my 'Holiday Break' I have had to eat late often. Well, now I am finding myself wanting (almost *needing* food) late at night and I never ate anything past 9pm before my break. I am not really 'hungry' I am just craving 'something'. So... any advice on having the motivation to NOT put something into my body?? (Shy knows about last nights binge I had :( and I do not want a repeat!) So I need help... Got Some?

Maybe you should post a print out about your goals on your fridge/cupboard where you would go late at night for your food? Or the old standard of brushing your teeth..

I have had major problems with this in the past as well so i know where you are coming from. Hm, maybe you could even portion out a snack for yourself of something healthy (carrot/celery sticks with hummus perhaps?) to eat late at night, and have that there for a "just in case" snack.

I guess the other thing to say is that it is OK if you eat late at night, your metabolism is going all the time, but of course it is better to eat earlier on. Maybe you are not eating enough earlier in the day? I find that tends to be the case when i'm really hungry late at night, especially if i didn't have a big enough breakfast.

It is really hard sometimes to determine if you indeed hungry, or if you are just bored and want to eat...i'm sure i've said this (or others have) before but if you have a craving, and you wait 15 minutes while you are doing something else, and you are still hungry...then it is actually hunger and not just boredom, and you should eat something IMHO.

just my two cents

I wish I could help you on this, at night is when I prefer to eat. I do try to eat carrots w/dips or a fruit, but often end up eating a huge amount of what ever. Its worst when I dont eat breakfast. I agree with shy decide if its true hungry and if it is eat a little something, if its boredom find something else to do. Now if I could follow my own advise.

Thank you Shy!! You reminded me of a couple of very important points! You are correct, I will pick up some carrot sticks tomorrow, to munch on when I'm feeling this way... :huggs:

I can relate Teach - It's been hard not snacking at night with the change in routine. Maybe try some hot tea or soup to hold you over. And remember it's good to wake up hungry (just as much a reminder to myself here! that there are good options)
