Hi teach-

I've been noticing lately that this site is very slow. It will take 1-2 minutes for a topic to post, or a message to be sent. I am wondering if something changed that could be causing this? The only thing i can t hink of is the addition of the new smileys..although i don't really see why that would be the cause..

i would say it is my computer but it seems to be slow regardless of what computer i'm using...who knows!

Yes I found the same thing Shy. It has been slow!

I am not having a problem... ?? so I do not know... anyone else having a problem? hmmm... let us try to figure this one out and fix it! I can prune smilies out if you guys want, no biggi.

actually...and this is strange....as soon as i posted this the site seemed to go back to normal LOL

i will see what happens at home today...but for a few days it was definately quite slow (and it was doing it on my home computer AND the work one here)...i am glad it seems to be back to normal.

Ok, I have deleted all smilies for now, THIS IS A TEST... please let me know if the board runs any faster without the smilies. Thank you.

Well, I am not seeing a difference... (ugh, and I hate the red x's all over the posts that have replaced our cute smilies!) But, for the betterment of the community, this is an important test to determine if there are any problems with the board... so, anyone else? How is it running for you?

I have another theory...when did you change the background teach? was it around the same time as the smilies or before?

Before... but I am going to temporarily remove the background and we will see how that goes... All we can do is try things and hope for the best. If it is a server problem, I cannot fix that. Are you still seeing a lag Shy?

nope, and i haven't for awhile now...it was just for a few days that i did.

I didn't find the site to be really slow earlier, but I noticed it's faster now, probably because there are less graphics to load.

Exactly sapphire. Less graphics, less load time. ;)

I wanted to point out to everyone... at the bottom of each page, in the gray bar you will see: Page creation time: 0.0186 seconds So for each page that loads, you will know the amount of time it took.

Weigh in with your opinion if you have one... the decision to replace background and smilies will come soon! :D

I've never had a problem with the pages being slow.

I feel like taking the smiley's away is like the sun going behind the clouds:(

i loved the smilies! i think perhaps if we had not as many..that would be a happy medium.. :)

FYI everyone:

At times, when necessary, you may try to log in and you will get a 'board is offline' message, that means that I have taken the forum offline for maintenance and it will be back up as soon as possible.

Smilies are back UP and these 40 are the ones who made the final cut. There will be red X's where I have cropped and certain ones no longer exist.

As far as the board being slow/fast, etc... I can do nothing about that.

i like the smiley selection, i have trouble remembering the ones that were there which you removed!

You know, it is funny... but I (personally) associate certain smilies with certain people... This guy :joker: reminds me of Righ (miss you dude!), and now this guy :canofworms: reminds me of YOU!

I am glad you like the final cut *whew* I was hoping I chose a well rounded group to express many things... my favorite is: :eathealthy: But that is because I custom made him... I took the "New Years Resolution: Eat Healthy" guy and removed that text and added my own! 8)

I just want to say :thanx: to everyone for your help and patience during this, :yourock: and I couldn't ask for a better group of healthy friends! :angel:

Was it the smiley's & the background slowing things down? I do remember some of what's missing: the rainbow, What's up, 4 smilies jumping 4 joy, fantastic, rolling smiley, eyeballs that popped out on springs, woohoo, kick me, aargh @#%$, the poinsettia...
I do miss the background & some of the smilies, maybe they can be rotated?

But the one I wouldn't miss is still around... the pig! :lol:

Hi Healthymama :) I do believe it was the skin that was slowing the board. We will be upgrading soon and when we do, each member will have the ability to chose their own skin. :D As of now, the smilies are the final set. I'm sorry if you miss a few :( but we still have some cute ones! 8)

If only you could just simply choose your own skin. I'd pick one that weighed a whole lot less!
