Title: Stormgirls Weigh In

stormgirl - June 1, 2007 05:30 AM (GMT)
Thought I better post this back up and starting tracking the weight again. I was unwell last week and ate and ate and ate lol! But this week I feel better and was surprised to see my weight is back down to 148 pounds so that is awesome. Problem is that I am going on holiday Monday so not sure when I will see that number again <_<

shygemini - June 1, 2007 05:53 AM (GMT)
you will, sometimes we need a break anyway...so it might do you good to have a rest from stringent eating etc!

hey stormgirl, i'm sure i should know this (i forget)...you don't have alot of loose skin right?

stormgirl - June 1, 2007 05:56 AM (GMT)
I am good apart from my tummy...it is going back slowly and is nothing serious but I do have that small area. I suffer from a joint condition which means my skin is also very easily damaged by weight gain/ loss. I do have loads of stretch marks. My physio suffers the same and has very poor skin in terms of elasticity. I will probably look like I am ageing really quickly!

shygemini - June 1, 2007 06:16 AM (GMT)
oh ok, well even so that doesn't sound so bad! Stretch marks are ok, you are so much healthier and look great....think of them as a reminder of where you came from i guess :)

i ask because i saw a show recnetly and they had a 20 yr old girl who lost at least as much weight as you have if not more, and she had loads of loose skin, really really bad on stomach, and arms, and chest....so i'm glad to hear you are doing much better then her :) :)

stormgirl - June 1, 2007 06:23 AM (GMT)
Thanks Shy :) I see it as a small price to pay for being healthier and fitter, I think that coming down from such a high weight there was always going to be a danger of excess skin so I am glad that my bingo wings are not scraping along the floor :D... I do sometimes contemplate what I have put my body through...never again!!
That is funny as I was watching a programme about a girl (I think she was mid twenties) who lost around 140 pounds through gastric bypass here in the UK. She had loads of excess skin, hanging from her body and was so upset that she had to have another operation. I think that the consistent exercise I was doing always meant I would tone up throughout instead of just dropping the weight through diet alone. I was chatting to my physio not so long ago and she was surprised that I did not suffer more with it.

LimeCrush - June 1, 2007 01:30 PM (GMT)
The loose skin issue has scared me from the start. In fact, when I first joined HWF, I pm'ed Stormy and asked her if she had that problem!

I kind of don't think I'll be too bad. Maybe a little in the tummy but I hope it's not much.

You are still rocking Stormy! Enjoy your holiday and just concentrate on having fun! :)

stormgirl - June 1, 2007 02:13 PM (GMT)
Thanks Lime, I plan to let my hair down! :D
Yeah just slap on the Vitamin E rich cream and keep your skin hydrated and you should be fine.

sapphire - June 1, 2007 02:57 PM (GMT)
Enjoy your holiday, Stormy! Glad to hear you're feeling better :)

TeachX3 - June 1, 2007 03:02 PM (GMT)

Be safe & have fun on your Holiday... and YAY on the pounds down!! WOOOT!! :D

Chiquita Kikita - June 2, 2007 01:39 AM (GMT)
Have fun on your holiday..........I would celebrate every single day if I lost as much weight as you! Congrats lady........you must be made of solid will power!!! If you have any extra.......share some with me!!! :P

flowerfluffgirl - June 8, 2007 12:36 PM (GMT)
Hey Stormy, just checking in to see how you're going with the maintainence.

stormgirl - June 10, 2007 02:05 PM (GMT)
Hey ladies...Hey flower :) well I was going good on the maintenance flower but I am holiday at the moment so the exercise and diet have slipped somewhat. I expect that I will gain around 4-6 pounds but that is cool..I feel like I need to gain a little weight just to balance out the time I spend trying to control it. Sitting in Kansas at the moment...I have tried to eat good foods but have succumbed to choccys, take aways and other lovely treats...I have enjoyed myself but plan on getting my weight back down once I return home :D

flowerfluffgirl - June 11, 2007 01:06 AM (GMT)
As long as you're having a good time and enjoying yourself, that's all that matters. You'll have it back in check in no time when you get home. Happy holidaying. :)

LimeCrush - June 15, 2007 04:32 AM (GMT)
Have a great time Stormy! And stay safe. Don't get to close to those storms your chasing around! How close do you get anyway?

stormgirl - June 17, 2007 01:30 AM (GMT)
Hey everyone...had a fab holiday! Lime, we get pretty close depending on what is going on (sometimes within half a mile or so) but Dave is so experienced so I feel really safe....it does have an element of danger so we are constantly aware of our surroundings. These storms can be unpredictable at times. We had a fab time though..
So I decided to weigh myself when I got back and was shocked to see I have gained about 7 pounds! Not a big problem really as part of it was rehydration but my jeans def feel tighter round my waist so damage limiation is now required. I must say that I was not shy about eating over there and indulged in some take away andjunk food most days...had a good time letting my hair down but feel like I have been poisoned too  We also spend A LOT of time sitting down so my body has had a rest!
I ate Arbys, McDonalds, Subway, cinammon and brown sugar pop tarts, a few meals out, a 16oz steak (the most meat I have ever eaten) a HUGE slice of cake from the cheesecake factory, cheese popcorn, chips, nachos, root beer, dr pepper, M & M's (the peanut butter ones are to die for) and more besides that so you can see that i have enjoyed myself lol!
Anyways, as from tomorrow I am back on it with a new start weight of 157 pounds...that should come off fairly quick I am sure :bouncy:

JennyT - June 17, 2007 01:36 AM (GMT)
Good luck storm! I am sure the weight will fall off once you get back on track!

sapphire - June 17, 2007 03:13 AM (GMT)
Welcome back, Stormy! I'm glad to hear you had a good time. You'll lose the extra pounds in no time :)

NicC - June 17, 2007 03:26 AM (GMT)
Hi Storm - I'm sure you'll get back on track quickly. It's great you were able to enjoy your holiday so much! You deserved it!!! :bouncy:

shygemini - June 17, 2007 04:23 AM (GMT)
happy to hear you enjoyed the holiday!

best of luck losing the weight again, it should come off no trouble :bouncy:

sarahinparis - June 18, 2007 11:00 AM (GMT)
Isnt it horrible how quickly you can gain 7 pounds and how lllllooooonnnngggg they take to come off? I think it is so UNFAIR!

In any event, glad you had a nice holiday & glad you are back on the program.

We are going to the US this summer for 3 weeks (including a big party for my wedding for my American family who couldnt travel here last week) -- any your post served as a nice reminder for me to take it easy on all the junk that it is so easy to pig out on!

Cherriterri - June 18, 2007 03:51 PM (GMT)
I'm glad you had fun on vacation storm. Sounds like you had a great time and that is what is important. You know how to take care of the 7 lbs!!

:bouncy:

stormgirl - June 19, 2007 07:44 AM (GMT)
Thanks everyone :)
Sarah tell me about it, if I had kept going like that I would have gained a stone in weight back within 4 weeks!! When bodies were being designed, weight gain and loss was certainly something that was miscalculated. But it is important to let your hair down once in a while..those pounds should be off within a couple of months :wooohooo:

Righ - June 20, 2007 09:26 AM (GMT)
That sounds like a great Holiday Stormgirl and I'm glad you went for it and had a good time :) you know you will get it all off again no bother but those breaks make the whole thing worth it I think :)

flowerfluffgirl - June 22, 2007 03:18 AM (GMT)
Sounds like you had an awesome holiday Stormy! Peanut butter M&Ms? I have never heard of those, they sound scrummy yummy!!!

stormgirl - June 23, 2007 04:28 AM (GMT)
Too true Righ, at least I know that I can let my hair down at least once a year and eat greedily for a few weeks... :happydance:
Yeah peanut butter M & M's are SO good Flower....and loaded with calories and fat
So the last week I have done some exercise...did my master spinning class yesterday...it was great fun and such a good workout so I might continue to go to the normal classes...man did I sweat!
Weight this morning, 152 pounds so I appear to have dropped around 5 pounds since I got back (altho I think that 2 or 3 of that was water retention)

So getting back down there...slowly

Cherriterri - June 23, 2007 04:45 AM (GMT)
That's so great Stormgirl!! You'll be back at your pre-holiday weight before you know it!

shygemini - June 23, 2007 04:48 AM (GMT)
that's great storm, keep it up! :bouncy:

LimeCrush - June 23, 2007 04:54 AM (GMT)
I'm glad you got home safely and had such a good time! :huggs:

TeachX3 - June 23, 2007 01:32 PM (GMT)

 Awesome that the pounds are leaving after their 'visit'!! :bouncy:

stormgirl - June 28, 2007 05:57 AM (GMT)
Thanks ladies :) My weight seems to be yo yoing a bit at the moment and I don't feel too well...my fitness has gone to pot and my muscles ache! All very odd so taking it day by day :(

purrrple - June 28, 2007 06:54 AM (GMT)
:huggs: for you Stormy! I've just over the flu, just spent 3 days in bed and had awful aching body, hope you're not coming down with something!

Take it easy and take care

xx

stormgirl - June 28, 2007 07:37 AM (GMT)
Hey purrrple, sorry to hear you have been ill  I hope you are feeling better now...I don't think I have a virus or anything, ever since I got back from the US I have not felt 100%. Energy levels have bombed. I am sure it will all get back to normal soon.

TeachX3 - June 28, 2007 01:45 PM (GMT)

Hi Stormgirl... you know the chemicals and additives that the US puts in food are probably different than what your body is used to having on a normal basis (FDA and all) and maybe you are going through kind of a 'toxic' removal process which is why your energy levels are down... you know, kind of like how drinking the water in different countries can harm you because your body is not used to the different cleaning processes. You think? Because I truly have no clue, it just sounds logical to me! Hope you feel better soon!! :huggs:

stormgirl - June 28, 2007 02:29 PM (GMT)
Hey teach, you know that has popped into my mind too, I think you are right. I went from eating fairly healthy, low fat meals to nosh ups of the take away kind. My body is probably punishing me back for what I did to it :( I feel so tired the whole time and my legs are like jelly when I try and exercise

Noeleen - June 29, 2007 02:09 AM (GMT)
Storm ,

I know how you feel , I feel the exact same way( and I have been misbehaving diet and exercise wise for months now ) , as I posted somewhere before ,

" when I eat crap , I feel crap " . I don't think we realise just how good we do feel when we eat correctly etc , until we have mishaps like this .

And really , eating crap for days ( or in my case months ) on end , is different to having a small treat now and then .

You'll get back on track and start feeling better , just use it next time to remind yourself before you do it again of the repurcussions .

stormgirl - July 1, 2007 06:41 AM (GMT)
Thanks Noeleen...its def getting back on track that is most important..
So my weigh in is a day late but it is TOM atm...
150.5 pounds (10 stone 10.5 pounds) so I am a pound and a half away from maintenance weight. I have been back from America 14 days so that is a loss of 5 pounds in that time which is quite good. I may even just let my weight stay at 150 for a while B)
Oops edited because I wrote in the wrong weight!

sarahinparis - July 1, 2007 02:14 PM (GMT)
5 pounds in 15 days? Wow, that was a fast recovery!

Congrats on getting back on top of it so quickly & staying on the path to permanent weight loss. Your accomplishments are really impressive!

shygemini - July 1, 2007 02:49 PM (GMT)
now the hard part, maintaining!

not that i'd know :P

congrats on getting back to 150lbs...sounds like things are back on track and your trip wasn't so much of a setback afterall!

TeachX3 - July 1, 2007 06:44 PM (GMT)

Awesome Stormgirl!!

stormgirl - July 1, 2007 09:35 PM (GMT)
Thanks Sarah, Shy and Teach, yeah that excess came off quick...I wonder how much of it really was a true weight gain..
So now back to maintaing again :D . My legs still feel tired when I run so I am taking on a newer, healthier regime again this coming week. I am cutting out sweets, Red Bull (which I have been drinking quite a lot), CHOCOLATE, take aways and concentrating on protein and all those good things I should be putting into my body. I will then see if this makes a difference to my diet. The gym has a 26 mile challenge on at the moment whereby members have to cover 26 mile distance during July on the treadmill. This has given me some incentive to get running longer distances on there again (the treadmill is useful if you want to train for speed variations), did 7K today so only got 35K to do. :wooohooo:
