Regular Posts: 305 Group: Friend Member #22 Joined: June 4, 2007	Since we all seem to know each other for a while now, I was thinking it might be fun to start a thread where we share a little more about ourselves & get to know each other better. Nothing that breaks internet anonymity, of course, but just to have us each share in turn on a given subject. Topics could be things like : eye color, pets, best friend (explain why), person who most inspires you, biggest fear, hobbies, etc I'll get the ball rolling - what jewelry do you wear on a regular basis? My answer : my wedding ring and engagement ring. I used to love earrings but became allergic to all even 18k gold several years back.

My watch that my boyfriend bought me for christmas and a ring my brother bought me a few years ago (blue topaz). I also used to wear a ring of my grandmother's (with colored stones that look like emeralds) but one stone became loose. I went to the jeweler to get them to press it back in. They said that had to replace all the clasps on the rings that hold the stones in..it costs $12/clasp so it would be $144 I decided against doing it since the clasps would then look different from the band, and if i changed the band it wouldn't even look like the same ring. Although the ring has alot of sentimental value it probably isn't worth that much to fix it. It makes me sad. Edited by shygemini, Jun 3 2008, 05:38 PM.

I have 5 items I wear daily (never take off) ... diamond cross necklace and diamond promise ring, diamond engagement ring, new diamond trio band (on my wedding finger) and ankle bracelet. When I go out (anywhere outside of the home, even to the store) I add... my Pink Panther watch (on my left wrist), a medical alert bracelet, a gold rope bracelet & my diamond 10 year anniversary bracelet (on my right wrist), earrings (I wear costume at times to fit the outfit, big and bold usually), a diamond heart ring on my middle finger left hand and 2 rings on my right hand... my Mothers ring (with my kiddos birth stones) and a marquis pink sapphire. I love diamonds and gold!!!

I like jewelery but I just wear the minimum: My two tone wedding band - which I love because it used to have lots of tiny brush stroke vertical lines and now after almost 15 years only the rougher (stars and horizontal lines) are visible - the longer I wear it the smoother it gets. The only other thing I wear is a twisted ring I bought for my University grad (it's twisted representing plasmid DNA). I'm allergic to nickel so I don't usually wear watches (use my pink cell phone to check the time lol).

I also wear the amber ring i got in mexico on my left hand and i rotate through the others on my right. I always wear earings although like teach i chose them to fit my outfit. I haven't found a necklace that i can stick with yet...maybe it's time to go shopping lol

I am wearing a black jumper dress with a long sleeved black top, black tights and black ballerina flats. I wear a lot of black but not very many dresses, so it's a bit outside of my normal range. It's also more winter or fall clothing, but it is cold here today...

Me : concealer for my huge undereye circles, a little blush, a nude eyeshadow, depending on my mood maybe mascara (2 days a week about) and lipgloss. Lipgloss is either natural color (most of the time) or a deep berry gloss (Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey). I have a bunch of other makeup but I rarely use it, and I almost never wear foundation... How about someone else suggest some "getting to know you topics"?

Oh and i use softlips lip gloss but i don't really count that as makeup, it is clear and just keep the lips moist If i am going out somewhere fancy, i'll put on some brown mascara and some kind of eyeshadow. That is literally the upper end of makeup for me.

I will when I remember wear I either light foundation with SPF or a tinted sunscreen that has foundation in it. When I do put on make-up (maybe once a week) it's light blue eye shadow, mascara various colours (which I love because I actually like my lashes) and berry colour lipstick or gloss. I love sparkles and smimmery make-up and glitter - Not enough to look like a hooker-I don't want anyone to get that picture in thier head, but a little, I love it. Everyday make up-Tinted Mositure w/Sunscreen-I'm pale, mascara (a must), eyeshadow in light purple, blue, or white and lipstick or lip gloss. I also love eyeline but I only use it once or twice a week.

I got out of the habit because, with working in a lab and using methanol and other chemicals, my polish wouldn't even last a day lol. However i love painting my toe nails! I paint them bright colours-- pinks, blues, purples 3. I really want to see the Sex and the City movie. I also want to see another movie but i can't recalll the title right now. I may remember it later or someone might mention it. 4. No i haven't owned any exotic pets, and i don't really want to

On special occasions I do go all out with the foundation and eyeshadow (colour depends on my mood) eyeliner and mascara. I tend to concentrate on my eyes as they are my favorite part of my face. I really do not like lipstick though, I don't like how it feels so I usually go with a lip gloss. I like the sparkles too

I like really bright or dark colors for my toenails (Reds, Pinks, Blues, Purples) And for my fingernails I like soft pales (pinks, nudes, clear) 3. Over Her Dead Body and Sex in the City 4. I had a goat when I was three (I dont remeber him but my mom says that I loved him) and I also had a possum growing up, she was wild but came inside every night for awhile, she had babies and I hid her and her babies in my room so I could keep them, but when I was at school my mom found them and sent them to the woods, I cried for days. I do occasionally flip through a magazine someone left at work but those are usually months old! 2. Fingernails - not on a regular basis since I can't for work. I will for special occasions though. I like to go crazy with the toenails like you Shy. Anything bright! Makes me think I should go for a pedicure as I am writing this. 3. I want to see Sex and the City as well. One that is already out that I want to see is the second of the chronicles of Narnia movies. Nothing else comes to mind right now. 4. Hmmmm, I have had a turtle. various rodents and fish. Birds. Nothing really exotic though. I think I would like a lizard but don't have the room for the tank and all the equipment required to keep the little guys healthy.

What I LIKE to read and what I ACTUALLY read aren't the same. I LIKE to read trashy magazines - People, Cosmo, Glamour, etc, but I rarely do. I actually read the Economist weekly, Self, and sometimes I pick up a cooking magazine here in France, or Elle (which is weekly here). When I want to treat myself I'll sometimes buy one of the American trashy magazines or Oprah (which I don't think is so trashy) or the New Yorker (for the cartoons and the fiction). I probably buy those US magazines 3-4 times a year... mainly when I'm in airports. 2.Do you paint your fingernails/toenails? What colours? Toes - no most of the time. I used to always but my DH thinks it looks cheap, so I do it from time to time and now in more sober colors (pale pink mainly). I love the look of red toenails though and sometimes when he's not around... Fingernails - I have short stubby fat fingers and colored polish just makes them look more short. I used to wear clear or pale pale pink from time to time, but recently found a buffing system that makes them as shiny as natural in a few minutes with no chemicals -- it's addictive because it's so easy and with such a good result! 3.What movie is coming out that you want to see? We watch a lot of DVDs at home but don't make it to the movies that often (we go to plays more often than movies). I do want to see the new Indiana Jones even though the reviews are so-so... 4.Have you ever owned any exotic pets (ie, anything but a cat or dog) or do you want to? When I was 8 I had a frog (it died a few weeks later). I've never been into exotic pets and haven't had my own pet at all (just family dogs when I was younger). If I could wave a magic wand and have a life where I didn't need to worry about working out the details I would have a dog (I'm a dog person, not cat person) but I work too much to give a good life to a dog, and travel too much too. We have a small yard but I dont' want it full of dog dirt, so the daily complexities of dealing w the dog's needs.... well, it doesn't fit my lifestyle.
