The little fresh soybeans (ok from frozen) taste fabulous steamed in the microwave and I love how they pop in my mouth - they have a slight nutty taste - I bought them at Costco and even my picky 6 yr old likes them. Plus popping them out of the shell makes them seem like a treat... |

These are a HUGE hit at our house too! We've had a hard time finding them in France, but one of the local sushi places carries them and we stock up when we order them. My stepson says they are like CANDY and the kid is NOT a veggie fan! That motivates my husband to spend the $$ on them... I did find a frozen bag of them at an Asian foods store but I just microwaved them (no water or anything) and they were yucky -- how do you prepare them? If I find them again I was thinking of steaming them? |

I steam these in the microwave but they are ones from Costco that come in microwaveable trays so all I have to do is poke holes in the plastic cover...and microwave

Yes, my sister introduced me to these! First time I had them was at her house. She also said she got hers at Cosco. I don't get the opportunity to shop there, but I found a bag of frozen ones at Walmart. They are in my freezer as we speak. How can I steam these in the micro?

Wet down your edamame, put the frozen edamame in a plastic bowl.. Cover with plastic wrap.. Nuke for about 1-2 minutes (depending on the Microwave).. Carefully remove wrap, and perfectly steamed edamame is ready for munching! I personally do a blanche/boil... A friend of mine who owns a Japanese/Chinese fusion restaurant showed me how he does his for his customers, and it was SOOOOO easy! No special asian kitchen things, just a simple small pot... they use a little salt on them... I have a large Asian market here in Manchester, NH that I can order them... 1.99/lb either shelled or unshelled. I bought both! LOL Im going to (this weekend) attempt to make an Edamame Hummus... with a little fresh ginger, splash of soy sauce and pineapple juice |
