This is my first post. I try to live a healthy lifestyle. I have been trying to lose 10 pounds for years now! I eat right and exercise, but if it budges it comes right back! I am 54 years old - is that my problem? :happydance:

Hello rinaaz  and welcome to F4LF!! Oh no, I do not think that being 54 is the only thing... sure, as we get older they say it's more difficult to loose weight, but I think it is probably something like maybe you start off strong, see some weight loss and then get a bit lax or comfortable and let some of the stricter habits die down and then before we know it, we are back to our old ways and not realizing we are not doing what we were doing in the beginning of our journey. OK you caught me, *thats* what happened to me! Do you count calories or follow the nutritional food pyramid or ? Oh another thing, the less amount of weight we have to lose, (the closer our body is to its healthy weight) the harder it is to lose it!! What BMI are you now? Anyhow, great to have you here... look around, jump right in and feel at home!

Hi rinaaz! Welcome to our forum! We are so happy to have you here!

As teach mentioned, yes it becomes more difficult to lose weight as you get older and the closer you get to goal weight...but this doesn't mean it is impossible, it just mean one has to work a little harder!

You may find it helpful to post a food diary on the forum here, to track what you eat each day and get helpful suggestions from members on improvements (if necessary)..and also to post an exercise log! Some members even have exercise related tickers which help keep them motivated. What kind of exercise are you doing now?

Best of luck and hope to hear more from you soon!

Welcome rinaaz.

Being 54 probably means you lose slower than you did when you were younger, but otherwise it doesn't change the equation - eat less, exercise more (just need to add "be more patient!).

Enjoy the site and let us know how we can help
