I just wanted to send a quick hello to everyone and to tell a little about myself. I grew up in Iowa, but moved to Charlotte, North Carolina about 2 1/2 years ago. I was looking for better opportunities and found it here. I work as an accountant for one of the largest food service providers of the world at their North American corporate headquarters. I have a variety of interests including gardening, NASCAR (go Junior!!!), reading, country music and hanging out with my husband, dog & cat. I am looking to get back to a heathly weight, which I haven't seen since high school. I was working and putting myself through school, so I haven't been as careful as I should have been. Now that the dust has settled, I am 90 lbs over weight. I started working hard to lose weight at the beginning of the year and lost 15 lbs, but I have lost steam and regained 5 lbs. I need to get back on track and am looking for support to make it to my goal. I look forward to hearing from you and can't wait to get started. Thanks!

Hello hojo1973 and welcome to F4LF!! Roses are beautiful and fast cars rock! What are your plans when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle? Will you be counting calories or the nutritional food pyramid approach or do you plan to tackle exercise first and work on learning a healthy eating pattern later? My number ONE advice I love to give is... drink water!! Flush that system out and replace the junk with fresh and whole foods, that is the image I put into my head to help me out... if I have a bad food day and totally fall off the fresh fruit, whole grains, vegetable wagon, I gain huge focus the next day (*that would be today* ) and drink tons of water and eat as light and clean as I can to 'flush my system out' LOL! It sure makes me feel better! Anywhoo... geeze, I went off on my own thing didn't I? LOL! So what is your strategy? I hope the BEST for you as you strive to take control of your health, you can do it!! ![]() |

Hi TeachX3 & Princess2one, I am currently following Weight Watchers on the down low. I've joined many times and know the drill, I just had a hard time going to meetings and I never really got much out of them. Soooo, I am counting my points, jotting in my journal, visiting my local farmers market (that's great for the environment, too!) and I just got back from the gym. I'm looking for support and to meet new friends without the AA feeling of the Weight Watchers meetings. I have set 10 lb goals for myself, too. I have them all written out and taped to my mirror. Things like a pedicure (already got it) and a 90 minute massage (currently working on it). I think it might help me over the long run, since I have a total of 100 lbs that I wanted to lose. If you have any advice on how I can benefit from this website (I'm new to chat rooms & blogging), I would greatly appreciate it.

I love how you have 10lb. goals for yourself, thats a great idea...I might copy. Would you post what your goals are? I love the idea of a pedicure as I have never gotten one before, but I can a message every night so that would not be a good goal for me.The only advise I have about this forum is to come here offen. You can only get the support you need if you all here to receive it. I'm trying to keep this in mind myself as every time I fall of the wagon I disappear. Good Luck!!!

MmmmM the Farmers Market One of my favorite places! Our forum seems to be quite slow at this time... not sure why, but I'm sure it will pick back up again. I log in to F4LF daily... for me, I enjoy the fun & games forum or playing a bit of hangman. I log in my food diary daily, it helps to keep myself accountable when I write down every morsel of food I have eaten. I log in my weigh in thread once a week. Whenever I find an article that I love, I share it here in the hopes that it may help someone else as well. Sometimes I just like to share some off the wall thing (a photo or a joke or how my day went, etc) ... this forum is full of awesome people who are kind, funny, supportive, loving, firm (when we need the occasional kick in the bum) and the fact that everyone here strives for the same thing (even though we each have our own ways of doing it) is a very comforting and homey feeling. Take a look around the board, feel free to jump in anywhere you want and have fun! ![]() |

Welcome to the forum! I think one of the best benefits from using an online site to track your weight loss progress, exercising, and nutrition, is that you are held more accountable. You get to know the people here, and you know that we are cheering you on...so it gives you motivation to work a little harder, eat less, push away a piece of cake, and the strength to get back on that scale every week! I think the 10lb goals are great. I make 5lb goals myself. Don't worry about the gaining back 5 lbs...you have still kept off 10, which is fantastic! I recently gained back 10 lbs after losing 45lbs so i understand completely how you feel. We can't change what we have done, only what we will do in the future. Looking forward to your posts! |

Princess2one, You are very lucky to get massages whenever you want! I used to get them monthly, but since I made my goal, I haven't gone since. I really need one, so I need to get my rear in gear! Here are my goals, since you asked. They can be anything you want, I just wrote down 10 things that I really want and probably would work hard to get. They are also like treats, without the sugar! Some of them may be pricey, but I have a long way to go and have been stashing a few bucks away for when I get there. Here they are: 10 lbs Pedicure (Done!) 20 lbs 90 minute massage 30 lbs French tip manicure (acrylics) 40 lbs Highlight for my hair (never done it before, but my stylist says I should) 50 lbs Designer Sunglasses 60 lbs Professional Teeth Whitening (thought that I'd have a movie star smile along with the movie star figure) 70 lbs Trip Home (I haven't been to my hometown in 2 1/2 years, so I want to look GOOD!!!) 80 lbs Dermatologist visit (never been to one, but I have the skin of a 14 year old and not in a good way) 90 lbs Tennis Bracelet (already picked it out and have it taped to my mirror next to my list) 100 lbs Trip to Charleston, SC (never been there, but would like to go. Need to have a body for the beach!) |
