Does anyone know anything about cameras?

I have a fairly old (i suppose LOL) digital camera. I wanted to take a picture today, and the viewscreen is showing up black. To turn the camera on, you have to slide open the lens...so it isn't a case of the lens being obscured. I changed the memory card (just in case it was corrupted) and the batteries. Still nothing. Any suggestions about what might be wrong??

I do know if it is older than 6 months, yep, it's old. LOL Mine is ancient too, but I spent so much money on it there is no way I'll 'upgrade', 'cause it still works! Technology just moves so darn fast... anyhow, I don't really know what could be wrong, but sounds to me like it's dead. But maybe try another set of batteries just to be sure!?

Thank- you for the reply my friend!

Yes- it is hm, probably 6 years old or so!

I never had the need to get a new one because it worked...but now i guess is the time to get one :(

I will try another set of batteries indeed...but i'm pretty sure that won't help since these were fresh out of the package...and actually the camera "works"..in the sense that i can change settings (flash on/off, macro on/off, zoom etc...all settings that show on the viewscreen)..but just when i try to take a pic...blackness :(

Sigh.

 Hi I had a digital camera that did the same thing; in referance to the black screen & not being able to take photos. I took it to a camera shop & asked them about it...they told me some technical stuff, which I cannot remember now. The end result is they said they could send it out for repair, but that would cost more than buying a new one. So, if that is your situation, you may as well bury it & get a new one. :(

Thank you for the reply joyful! :)

oh wow :( yes, i suspected it might make more sense to just get a new one :(

my camera is weird, it started working again, and then stopped again for awhile (the screen was really fuzzy/staticky and so were the pictures, and very dark pictures) and now it is fine again.
