Stress & Weight Gain

I have been under a tremendously large amount of stress these past few weeks... and it looks as if things will be getting worse before they get any better. I am the type of person who always looks for the silver lining, however, this has been getting the best of me. I am craving and eating very bad choices while being so depressed that the thought of exercise or striving to live a healthy life in any form eludes me. I found these articles while looking up stress and weight gain... seems there are conflicting opinions. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Teach: :huggs: When it comes to losing weight and living healthy I think that everyone should ask theirselves two questions...
1. What can I do, that I'm not already doing, to see results?
2. Can I really handle anything else right now?

Sometimes it's all we can do to get through the day and everything else falls by the way side. Have you though of changing from trying to lose weight to just maintaining (as if it's so easy to "just maintain") until everyting settles down? Just a though. I know that it can be depressing not to see a loss, when you are expecting it.
There are times when we physically and mentally cannot handle anymore. :huggs: :huggs:

Last fall I went through a streeful, depressing time and that's why I gained so much. I really just ate everything in sight.

As far as what you can do to try an stop stess eating...let me know if you find out what helps. :D Taking a walk helps, but I couldn't bring myself to walk during that time.

I hope that this helps, I was trying to be uplifting.

Yes it truly does help my friend. You know what? That is EXACTLY what I am going to do... I'm taking a break from actively trying to lose weight and I shall concentrate on getting through this time in my life as healthy as I can. Who knows? I may be better in days, it may take longer, but I sure don't need to be adding more stress upon myself. :huggs: thanks!

That sounds like a good idea. :D

Also, if you find yourself eating more of one thing, say Chocolate...you could try an find the lesser of the evil. Smart one's (frozen food) makes a really good sundae dessert. They have Brownie, Mocha, Cookie Dough, and Mint Chocolate Chip. I never did that, for one because I didn't realize the problem until afterwards and for two, I don't keep much snacks at home. I would go to the store and buy 2 candy bars and then eat them both in my car while still in the parking lot. I really went through a stressful/depressiong time and kind of just bury my head in the sand. :blush:

As usual the ladies have great advice. I agree go easy on yourself and do the best you can. Sometimes other things do take priority!
1.5 lbs a week will get me to my goal weight by Jan 1 next year!!!
