Sounds good, but I disagree with a couple of them personally.

Wholewheat flour is great, but it actually works best when you mix it half half with white enriched flour (in my experience). That way you are getting the benefit of the wholewheat but your stuff will still turn out. Also, keep in mind that wholewheat flour will go bad faster than white flour, since it contains the germ which has fatty acids (which can go bad) unlike white flour which doesn't contain the germ.

The other thing I disagree with is to not have any sugar in your pantry. Yes, it is im portant to limit sugar, but i don't think you need to completely remove it from your house.

Shy, the article did not say remove sugar, but to remove the artificial sweeteners (even if they are made from “real sugars”). Or did I miss something?

Yes, a very good article. But, I read it as ditching refined sugars as well as artificial sweeteners. In regard to the flour usually white & wheat together do make for a more tasty product, just be sure to use unbleached white flour. Now some products like whole wheat muffins taste best with just the whole wheat flour. That is just my taste buds.

Nope it said under items to kick out:

refined sugars

Joyful- i totally agree, some items do taste best just with the wholewheat flour. It is a bit of a trial and error process :)

Yes, I am making whole wheat English muffins right now. Using 100% organic whole grain wheat flour. Well, they are on the cookie sheets rising. After they rise you cook them on top of the stove in a black iron skillet, turning until done. Sometimes they come out a bit doughy in the middle. So, just slice in half, toast, add PB & J or whatever you like. Yum Yum, I can hardly wait. I think I will post the recipe on an appropriate thread. They are really good & healthy. My husband packs them when he goes hunting. They freeze well too. :eathealthy:
