As a woman in your 60s and beyond, you now have a perspective (and experiences) that bring wisdom and zest to life. Defying preconceived notions of aging, you are a source of energy, beauty, and inspiration. Now is the time to nurture your health to better mentor and motivate the next generation.

To maintain your health and zest for life in your 60s and beyond:

Every day, be:

* Physically active
* Nutritionally smart
* In-the-know about preventive screenings

* Skin
o Annual mole and overall skin exam
o Practice monthly self-exam of all moles
* Heart
o Cholesterol panel – total, LDL, HDL and triclycerides
o Blood pressure – at least once every two years
* Breast
o Mammogram – every one to two years
* Reproductive
o InternalexamwithPaptest–discuss with your healthcare provider
* Bones
o Bone density test – talk to your healthcare provider
* Colorectal
o Annual fecal occult blood test
o Rectal exam – every five to ten years
o Sigmoidoscopy – every five years (if not having colonoscopy)
o Colonoscopy – every ten years
* Eyes, Ears and Teeth
o Vision exam – every one to two years
o Hearing exam – every three years
o Semiannual dental visits for exam and cleaning
* General
o Immunizations
+ Tetanus once every TEN years
+ Influenza – yearly
+ Pneumococcal – one time only
+ Herpes zoster vaccine – one time only
o Thyroid test (TSH) –every five years
o Diabetes check – fasting blood glucose – every three years

My Goal... NO to TOXINS: chemicals, artificial colors & flavors, preservatives, additives, man made (lab created) 'foods', GMO's, pesticides, added hormones, antibiotics, etc... and YES to ORGANIC: whole, fresh & pure natural living!

:bouncy: Yes, I am definitely in the ZEST of my life!! :bouncy: I am constantly having a "ME DAY"!! I appreciate the healthy reminders. I am up to date on most except I am past due for my vision exam & I have never had a hearing exam. My annual mam & pap will be done before the end of the year I hope. I have no insurance now since retiring so am dependent on the "every woman's life program" so I kinda have to persevere. I will also be getting my flu shot this Friday. :halloween:

Finally I got an appointment for my annual Pap test. 8 months late, but tonight is the night. The appointment time is 6p.m. & a 2 hour round trip. My husband is taking off work early to drive me there. I hate driving at night now. I really dread this test. (& I have all day to do that). :lol: ...unpleasant, but necessary. I just want to get it over with. I am going through the "Every Womens Life Program" which also means the test is free... so I cannot complain about time, distance, or unpleasantries. :wacko:

Thanks Teach! Now I have gotten my mammo scheduled...that will be Dec. 22..so I am right on schedule for this . Last year was Dec. 19... .here at the local hospital about 10 min. from home...& daytime...so that is good. I can take myself to that. :) Somehow I don't mind getting my boobs squished as bad as the pap thing. Go figure. :lol:

I finally got my test results for my colesterol & it is much improved from July 2008.

My tl. colesterol level is 227..still high but down from 324
My bad colesterol LDL is 139...down from 242
My triglycerides level is 131...down from 158

So I am encouraged & will continue my meds, exercise, & healthy eating. I feel the exercise has helped more than anything. :)
