As a woman in your 40s, you have “caught the spirit” of your life. You are recognizing what challenges you and discovering pathways to success and satisfaction. Now is the time to turn your awareness of good health into ACTION.

To take action for your health in your 40s:

Every day, be:

* Physically active
* Nutritionally smart
* In-the-know about preventive screenings

* Skin
o Annual mole and overall skin exam
o Practice monthly self-exam of all moles
* Heart
o Cholesterol panel – total, LDL, HDL and triclycerides
o Blood pressure – at least once every two years
* Breast
o Baseline mammogram – then every one to two years
* Reproductive
o Internal exam with Pap test – every one to three years
* Bones
o Bone density test – talk to your healthcare provider
* Eyes, Ears and Teeth
o Vision exam – every two to four years
o Hearing exam – every ten years
o Semiannual dental visits for exam and cleaning
* General
o Immunizations
+ Tetanus once every TEN years
o Thyroid test (TSH) –every five years
o Diabetes check – fasting blood glucose – every three years

My Goal... NO to TOXINS: chemicals, artificial colors & flavors, preservatives, additives, man made (lab created) 'foods', GMO's, pesticides, added hormones, antibiotics, etc... and YES to ORGANIC: whole, fresh & pure natural living!

About 5 months ago, a very, very wonderful and blessed thing happened. For the first time, in my life since being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1993, my dear husband GOT ME HEALTH INSURANCE!!! It is of fantastic quality too! I have not been to any type of doctor as of yet... kind of overwhelmed with the idea of "where to start" I guess. Anyway, I was thinking about trying THIS: http://www.stjohnsmercy.org/services/heart/wellness/pulse.asp What do ya think, does it sound good?

I never did do the 'pulse', but with as much as I have been active in my health these past few months, I'm not too concerned LOL When I go back to my primary care physician for a complete blood work, I will add in the last few things on the list! 8~)
