Hi Everbody

As you all know my weight had stalled & I had lost a lot of my previous motivation. But, not being a quitter I decided to change direction & joined Weight Watchers as of May 11. At first, I had headaches, probably carb withdrawal. But, after a couple of days that was gone & after eating a more healthy diet plan I began to feel extremely energic & optimistic. :bouncy: I still do. I lost 5 lbs. this first week & although I know better to expect that continuiously, I am hoping for about 2 lb. loss per week. My 5% goal is 144. then I go to a 10% goal, & finally on to my goal of 130lbs. You may be thinking, well she does not weigh much to start with, but no matter what your starting weight, every pound lost is a struggle. Two years ago I weighed 162lb. my highest ever. I am only 5' 2" & am carrying a lot of excess on my middle, which can lead to heart disease. I already am struggling with the high colesterol & high blood pressure. That is my main concern. But, also, I want to be thinner for self-image reasons. :D
I will continue to log here as you all are such wonderful support & motivation, no matter what. I enjoy you all & am cheering :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: you on as well. One step at time! :huggs:

yes, Princess I was very happy. :) It gave me motivation to keep on keepin on. :bouncy:

Yesterday, I had a food challenge that I met & conquered sucessfully. My sis & I took my Mom to the hospital (just scheduled blood work) & later in the afternoon to an eye appt. I knew of course, we would be having lunch out as we would be in town all day with the appts. etc. I had been having anxiety about food choices at some restaurant or buffet deal. Of course that is something I have to learn to deal with, but so early in the game I wanted as few temptations as possible. It was my Mom's choice anyway since it was her birthday . I just kept quiet. She decided to have lunch in the hospital cafeteria (1st time for me) that way we could transport Mom in a wheel buggy & also save time, since we were already there. Mom uses a walker normally, but the cafeteria was a ways away so we used the hospital's buggy. I got in a mini walk too. I was so happy to see they had a salad bar. :eathealthy: I made lots of good choices, & also used olive oil/balsamic vinegar for the dressing. For the lean protein I had tuna & chicken.
I did not exceed total points for the day! :proud:

weigh-in Monday..June 1

145 lb. :D

lost 1 more lb. for a total of 7 lbs., so far

seems kinda slow, but in reality I know that is the best & healthiest way. When I put it in perspective....1 lb. a week, for 52 wks...that's 52 lbs. in a year & I only want to lose 15 lb. more. So it should be very do able.

My next goal is 144.4 lb. & I am very close. (that is 5% weight loss)
I have been thinking of a reward for myself when I get there. Considering a new purse or jammies.
For my goal of 137.8 lbs. (15% weight loss) I have already decided on a new bathing suit!! :summer:

Monday..June 8

weigh-in......145 lb.
No loss.... but no gain :D

So... no new purse this week :( ....but I am sure I will make my goal of 144.4 by next week.

I am not going to make any excuses, but I do have several reasons why I think there is no loss this week.
I hurt my back early in the week (pulling grass & weeds in flower beds/gardening/ just over did) So I had to spend a day in bed with heating pad etc. which therefore meant no real exercise this week. Gradually it is getting better, but there have been no long walks for Gracie either. She's pouting. :( For another it rained 3 days & while staying indoors nursing my back, I drank a lot of coffee, which meant not as much water. I did go out to eat one day...but made good choices. One day DH brought home KFC & I indulged. that blew my daily points allowance & cut into my weekly points allowance (which I had not been using at all until this week) I guess I am lucky I did not gain. So this week I will do better... :buttkick: .especially drink more water & try to get moderate exercise. :happydance:

:thanx: Teach..my back is much better.

I went into town today...weekly food shopping...lots of fruits & healthy stuff. :eathealthy:
I got to thinkin first though.. :goodidea: .why don't I go into that dress shop next to the grocery store & just look at the purses? See what I have to look forward to kinda thinkin. ;)
Well, there it was...a purse I had looked at earlier in the spring & now it was half-price. So, yes, I did buy it. I reasoned & rightly so I feel, that, even though my goal weight for a purse was only .6 ( note that is .6 lb. ....not 6 whole lbs.), Anyway I felt I truly deserved it now.... After all, I did lose 7 lb. total & I know I deserve a reward for all that hard work

The purse is kinda satchel like...black canvas with hot pink w/ white polka dots vinyl trim at the top, bottom & handles.. Hot pink lining with a large built in snap clutch in the middle. One large pocket on either side of the clutch w/ magnetic snap closures. I :valentines:
It was a positve move as now I feel even more motivated rather than discouraged that I did not loose those few ounces last week. Now on to my goal for the new swim suit...

Monday June 22
weigh-in 144lb.

no loss this week ...but, no gain... :)

I stayed within my points range, but used more than usual...I undermined myself with homemade spaghetti...although I did use the whole wheat pasta .. & also Father's Day cook out..splurged a bit...
But, I need to get back to my exercise. :buttkick:

I did get a good colesterol report this past week. It is down to 174 total & was up in the 300's last year. Also, my BP was 124/70 !! I have impressed myself!

Great report from the doctor :bouncy: What I do when I have pasta is first it has to be whole wheat and only 1 serving (about 2oz) if I'm still hungry I eat salad with it. Also I add things to stretch out the pasta-black onions, onions, peppers, zucchini. It helps.

:thanx: Teach & Shy

:thanx: Princess for the great spaghetti tip! :goodidea:

Starting today my neighbor & I have started walking together. Her name is Myrtle & she is already slim & fit, and wants to stay that way. Today was 2.2 miles. We plan to walk at least 4 days a week. So nice to have the company too. This will help get me motivated for our July exercise challange. She just retired this past month, so hopefully this routine will continue indefinitely. :happydance: Two old retirees just walking down the black top country roads!!

GREAT Report!!

It is so much easier to walk with someone I think. Sometimes Hubby will walk with me. That is nice. But most of the time it is me just doing it on my own. That is OK too I guess because I keep doing it. :)

Monday June 29

weigh-in.......142 lb. :bouncy:

Most of the time I am faithfully following the nutritional guidelines & I feel that getting back to exercise (walking) has helped greatly. 3 miles today..in addition to Gracie, dog walk & grocery shopping at our super Walmart..which they are remodeling & I had to walk & walk & retrace steps to find things. That was about 2 more hours .
