Well Joyful, two solid days of clean eating has helped me tremendously. Monday I was 147 and this morning I am back down to 145 pounds. I feel lighter, not as sluggish in the a.m. and more energy too. How has the past two days helped you? I am aiming for 2 liters (+) of water a day as well to help flush out my system and get the engine revved up! But 145 pounds has been my average weight the past few months, and one I can easily achieve each week... so, until I can get through the weekend clean and maintain with the 145 being my highest weight, I am not giving up, because I need to be able to start off a week at this weight in order to go lower! Hope you have a HEALTHY day girl! ![]() |

Good Morning Teach 145lb. Woo Hoo!! Yes, you are definitely off to a good start this week. Amazing how just a small amount of clean eating can make you feel so much better physically & mentally! I have not weighed since Monday. I was at 147lb. I am trying not to weigh again until next Monday. Sometimes the daily numbers on the scale can really motivate me & other times discourage me. So far this week I have exercised daily & been eating within my pts. allowance. I need to focus on drinking more water though. Tonight will be a challenge in regards to eating as I have a fresh apple cake in the oven as we speak. Main reason for this cake is that today is my husband's birthday. I just will need to remember my portion control. So I am thinking one piece w/ff Kool Whip. And then he can also take some to work with him tomorrow to get it out of the house & so less temptation. At least it is a healthy ingred. cake. so to be accountable I will report the results tomorrow. Keep on keepin on Teach...you are doing great...I can tell how commited you are to this challenge & I know we will both come out winners!! Have a great healthy week

I just took the apple cake out of the oven...the smell is torture, in a most delicious way! But, it will be safe...at least until DH gets home from work. This is just the kind of situation that we all face in life & I need to learn how to deal with it in a healthy way....all about choices.

I did it!! I only ate one small slice of that apple cake... with 2 Tblsp. FF Cool-whip. I did go over daily pts. though. Allowed 19 pts. & totaled out 22pts., but still OP because I have banked some exercise pts. & still have extra weekly pts. to pull from. The main thing is I controlled my portion . That feels so powerful! I think being accountable to you Teach ...really helped too. ... & I am such an honest person, so there is no way for me to cheat here. I would only be cheating myself anyway... I sucessfully drank my quota of water too. So far today I have been for a 1.5 mile walk & am OP on my pts. I am still trying to drink my water, as I really have no desire for it today. So Teach how are you doing today? I hope you are having a healthy week. Don't make me come out there & you! |

Fantastic success Joyful! The portion control is a HUGE key for me... I can make healthy choices, but tend to overdo them if I do not force myself to keep it in check! I am so happy for you, I know exactly how it feels to have that power!! Having to hold ourselves accountable daily is tough and I agree, having a friend to help us through is so helpful! DRINK THAT WATER girl! And please, PLEASE do not kick me I promise to stay the course today! ![]() |

Good job Teach. .Then, OK, you get a reprive from the ole butt kick today... Unfortunately I went a bit over my pts. today & only drank half my water. I am the same as you about portion control...even though I have learned what is healthy for my body, I tend to eat too much at one time. So, I am working hard on that. It is really, really, hard when your mind knows it is nutritious food & you have to limit the amount. With the bad food, you know you should not be eating it right from the git go. I am beginning to get anxious about my weekend eating...that is my weakest time. I guess because my DH is not at work & we are out & about...that is where the temptation is for me. I know I will just have to get my mind set straight to be sucessful. I hope you have had a great day today & have kept all your heathy habits in control....CONTROL...I love that word!! Expecially when I am the one doing the controling.

I am getting anxious about the weekend eating too... Friday night dinner out, Saturday a birthday cookout, Sunday going to the fair and then Monday cookout at home. These are facts, they will happen. So, my best plan of action is to enjoy them, the friends, family and fun, but keep CONTROL (notice my use of the word we like lol) of the food! |

Good morning Joyful... lots on my mind today. I am down to 143.8 and I am scared to death that I will shoot back up over this weekend, that my willpower will fail and I will reason with myself to "go ahead and enjoy (foods) because ... ", and I don't want to start over come this Monday. I got a hair cut last night, I mean a HUGE hair cut at the spur of the moment. All my long locks are gone, it is super short. This is really bothering me... I do not know why I did it, but I have just not been happy with myself lately and I finally broke last night. For me, my favorite physical beauty attribute is my long, curly gray hair (the only one I think I have really)... and now it is gone. I feel very uncomfortable, very ugly. On a happy note, I am quite sore today... the exercise is paying off for me. It feels good to have muscles ache that I forgot were there. Have a HEALTHY day today girl and drink up on that water! ![]() Ugh, about my hair. I know it is a vanity thing and I also know vanity is a sin. How do I get over this?? Every time I pass by a mirror, I get disgusted and angry and then sad. I do not want to feel this way for the next year or so that it takes to for it to grow out!! Not to mention the fact that I get even more sad due to being ashamed because I know it is a vanity thing. I am really not dealing well with this. Any words of wisdom Joyful? Hi Teach, Words of wisdom? My main thought is something you already know....your inner beauty is what counts. Yes, the outside is a lot of vanity I guess, but we all like to approve of the way we look when we look in the mirror. I don't think you will feel angry & sad about your haircut for long. It will just take a little bit of time getting used to it. I used to have long hair too, never had it short & then I wanted a change, so I had it cut super short & also changed color. All at the same time. I tried letting it grow back out but found I did not like that anymore, so have kept it short. I felt it looked OK, but sometimes I would miss the brushing of it. Change can be positive. So try to think about it that way....less, hair, equals less shampoo. ..& also it is not a permanent change.. .it will grow back...also, maybe that helped to lose a bit of weight? So cheer up & stop being so hard on yourself & try to enjoy your new look. By the way, I have seen your photos & although your hair is beautiful ...it is not your only physical attribute.I too have a food filled weekend....this morning DH wanted to go to Shoney's. Of course, I went too. I chose not to get the full buffet, but instead got 1 fruit plate. I admit it was not exactly what my taste buds had in mind, but it filled me up & I was satisified. I kept trying to keep the focus on us being together, rather than what I was choosing to eat. It is not easy though. I have been hungry all day & have already eaten most of my daily allowable pts. (it's about 3p.m.) Guess I wll have to drink water for dinner. Not sure what Sat. will bring, but Sun. my son is visiting & taking us out to breakfast...in the afternoon there is a family birthday party...Mon? maybe we will cook out. So, let's try to put the focus on being together more than the food. Not sure why, but sometimes if I try too hard & think about what not to eat I just eat more. on the exercise!Hope you are having a better day. PS.. I too, do not want another start over Monday! "less shampoo and a little lighter on the scale" Great silver linings! It really is an adorable cut, the style is so cute and carefree and on anyone else, I would think it would be great... when I see my shadow, I think it looks good, but when I look at my face in the mirror, I'm not as impressed! for the complement too ![]() You did AWESOME at the restaurant this morning!! While it was not what your taste buds wanted, it was definitely what your body needed! Great job! Yes, focusing on the event, rather than the food attached to it, is our best plan of action. I too have been 'hungry' today, and I'm not sure why... I've had my water, but plan on having more to 'fill in'. |

Great job today, Teach!! To sum up my day....great start...but, went over allowable pts today, no exercise, except for dog walk, & only half my water... For dinner instead of just water, I had cereal with vanilla soy milk. Crazy eating day.I still have no clue why I was constantly hungry today or just never satisified. I just seemed to be in a mentally funk state of mind. but well, the day is over & what is done is done. At least I can actually say I am no longer hungry. (it's 8pm. now & the kitchen is closed) Have a great healthy September day tomorrow (Sat.) and

Up a bit on the scale this a.m., lack of water intake yesterday shows me I need to be serious when it comes to water. Problem is, I will be out all day/night at the fair, and I truly do not like using the 'porta potty' thing YUCK so I don't want to drink water !! Ugh, fair foods. I want them. I want to eat them bad. Teach you are doing wonderful! I definitely agree about the porta potties. UGH! Sometimes when I go to the fair, I will just choose one special thing I love, that you usually can't get anywhere else but the fair. Sometimes they have ethnic foods & I try some of them. Anyway, you cannot have fun at the fair without eating something bad for you. So this advice is late I know, but I hope you had a good time. It's Monday again & I did weigh-in at 145lb. A 2 lb. loss, so I am extrememly happy about that. I am sure I could have lost more, but I indulged quite a few times with the food choices & not a lot of exercise over the weekend. At least I have lost that starting over again feeling. I feel right on course This week will be another challanging week for me. Wed. & Thur. I will be at my Mom's (will not be on line then either) while my step-dad is in the hospital having hip replacement surgery. Hopefull I will be able to walk in the mornings & evenings if the weather is fair. The eating choices will be hard, so I am going to take some of my own food, water, & snacks. You know how Mom's can be...at least mine...want this, want that, (most of it not good for me) & finish your plate. Hope you have a great week!!

Joyful!! 2 pounds down is fantastic girl, you are on your way!! ![]() I enjoyed many treats at the fair... which included: 2 corndogs, a lemon shake up, cotton candy, pork sandwich, a couple of beers... Hope you are doing good Joyful! ![]() I am in a WAR. The ENEMY is my BODY. This BATTLE is fierce! Why must my body FIGHT me so hard?? I know I am not truly hungry... I have been eating well balanced and nutritional and keeping my cals at a safe level, but I feel as if I am starving! ARGH!!! It is Friday and the weekend is shaping up to be a relaxing, laid back one. My GOAL is to make it through with the CORRECT MINDSET... in other words, just because it is the weekend, that does not mean I should be lax on food. I am VICTORIOUS through the week, but then I LET MY GUARD DOWN on Sat & Sun. WELL, if the soldiers in war actually did THAT they would be DEAD.
