arg, I have to move my ticker in the wrong direction  Guess last weekend I went overboard and staying in control all week was not enough to balance it back out. Oh well, it is what it is, but it is not what I want. I'm going to totally keep in control this weekend so that I have a jump start come Monday... I will NOT go any higher on that scale, that is for sure. I'm still not exercising the way I should be... I do a bit here and there, but not enough to be effective and I know that. My water intake is good, but I have never really had a problem with that.

Last Friday: 144.2
Saturday: ???.?
Sunday: ???.?
Monday: 145.8
Tuesday: 145.0
Wednesday: 144.8
Thursday: 144.8
Today: 145.0

How frustrating Teach to be focused & watching your body hang on to the weight.

Hang in there!

Nic, thank you... I wish I had half the energy to actually 'DO IT' as you have given me in your post!! lol

Sarah, yes very frustrating... and it seems this week I have had NO FOCUS what'so'ever and I have just let it all slide

Joyful, what is our issue?? I have a feeling I am going to have to look harder for that motivation, it does not seem to be coming naturally!

Well... I have eaten terribly this past week. I have not gotten the proper exercise NOR have I even drank my water like needed. I have, however, completely enjoyed my time with my GrandBaby! I take her back home this evening... believe me, I AM POOPED! I truly did not remember how hard it was to take care of a little one! Thank goodness I had my three when I was in my 20's!! :D Anyhow... I was unable to weigh in this morning, Beccers took up my time and by the time I had time, I had already had many cups of coffee LOL so, I'll post my weights for the past week and my ticker will stay in it's spot until next Friday.

Last Friday: 145.0
Saturday: 145.2
Sunday: 144.2
Monday: 144.2
Tuesday: 144.6
Wednesday: 144.6
Thursday: 145.0
Today: ???

Teach, what if you take a week to be really focused & not weigh in daily for the week? That way you could put your focus on the right behaviors & see the scale after some of those good behaviors are back in full force. The short break from the scale could be the shake-up to your routine that you need, and a week is a short enough time that not too much bad could happen in the worst-case scenario...

Just a thought...

Thanks ladies... Of course I agree that maintaining is a positive thing, however I know by my attitude and actions that I am headed in the wrong direction. As of this morning, I am up on the scale to 148.0 ... I am so angry with myself, I have not seen that high of a number since September of last year. I mean, come on! I made it through the Holidays lighter. My food choices have been unhealthy, my exercise level almost non existent and my attitude about the whole thing very crappy. I'm not sure how to go about handling my new found level of unhealthy living... but beings Sarah that you have given me a suggestion, I am going to take it. I will not get on the scale until Friday, so that is 3 days not weighing in... I can not comprehend how I will force myself to be able to keep away from it. I am tired, not physically, but mentally tired of struggling. This lifestyle is getting monotonous, discouraging and just plain getting me down.

Teach - I think you need to go dance on that treadmill (as long as you are feeling well enough). :buttkick:

The further you get away from the healthy living the harder it gets. Believe me I know what I'm talking about  .

Just make a couple of good positive changes and stick with them - it will help you change your attitude.

:valentines: I'm giving you some tough love and another :buttkick:

I was just thinking the other day how the media is full of talk about "diet and exercise" but that what I think really matters is "planning and motivation" and basically those are pretty much ignored.

I think it's normal to have periods of more or less engagement with our weight loss efforts. We're like that in other areas of our lives, even friendships wax and wane for most of us, as do hobbies and other interests.

I think one of the keys is to keep the "less interest" periods to be something without pressure to lose weight, but enough attention to maintain. That can give us enough of a mental break to be able to go back and attack losing another 5 pounds down the road.

I guess an observation I could offer to you, Teach, is that for several years now you've done a GREAT job of maintaining a much-lower weight, but you never seem satisfied. You hung out in the 150s for quite a while but always with a real desire to go longer (so maybe not enjoying it? maybe not relaxing into it?) and then did successfully lose another 10 pounds permanently. But now you're kind of doing the same thing, looking down the road at where you want to be, somewhat dissatisfied, and putting yourself under pressure.

Maybe you should just maintain for a few months, take away the ticker, take away the goal & just enjoy your life (and keep your weight stable). Then when the pressure of the constant dieting for several years has left your body, you can go back on the attack for 5 pounds... repeat the process, and get that last 5 off.

DISCLAIMER : I mean this post in the most kind, encouraging, friendly way. If thinking about it adds ANY stress to your life, please just ignore it. You can even ask me to delete it & I will happily do so.

Hugs
Sarah

Sarah, :yourock: and your post is fantastic and kind, thank you. You are correct too... I tend to be the 'never satisfied' type of person, always wanting more, always wanting better and it is a struggle for me to be happy with the here and now, it is even a particular thing that I work on daily in all other areas of my life... sitting here, I am surprised I have not applied it to my weight loss!! SO, thank you for bringing that to my attention. My husband tells me two things all the time, "you are too hard on yourself" and "you are impatient"... lol. I am in a much better frame of mind this week, the laying off the scale helped and so did the lax food intake for a few days, I am now more determined and feel like I have the energy to move forward. I started back up on the scale yesterday and it is very good news for me, so I can't wait for my Friday weigh in!! You said

No documentation of weigh in today... I am still up on the scale due to the bloat from the Wed/Thur 'free day' eating and it is not accurate weight, so I am postponing.

I'm done. My body is comfortable at 142 - 144 pounds and that is where I am going to stay for a while. Maybe a few weeks, or maybe even a few years, I am undecided... but I know it is what is best for me. To maintain and enjoy life without the added pressure of a pound up or down all the time. I am currently at 143 pounds and that satisfies me, my main goal now is to maintain at under 145 pounds. That means 145 is my HIGH weight (when I splurge and am bloated)... but closer to 142 is my chosen ideal weight. I used to be OBESE and I am now in the HEALTHY WEIGHT category according to BMI, I am happy with that for now. I do eventually want to try to lose a few more pounds (135 is my dream weight) but I will wait for when my body (and mind) are ready to continue that quest.

Thank you for the support you each have given me over these years and I look forward to just being here for you!

i think this is the best decision for you :) i am so happy for you! we are learning alot about this in my courses ... we all have a weight where our body is comfortable..and being at the lower end of the healthy BMI range is not ideal for everyone (and can actually lead to more health issues as you age). I think you are at a great point right now. yay!

Teach, I think this is a good thing too!

Enjoy hanging out and having a normal life & judging your weight by the fit of your pants & what you can do instead of a number!

You really are an inspiration to me!
