So I have recently discovered asparagus. I have also discovered that I really like asparagus. So far they way I have been cooking it has been to throw it on the barbecue for a few minutes and it is really yummy.

Does anybody else have any suggestions as to other ways to cook it?

Hey Cherri ,

yes its right in the middle of asparagus season , I love it too despite the "unfortunate side-effects" lol

I usally do it on a griddle pan on the hob , salt pepper and a good splash of balsamic over it while in the pan, really lifts it.

You can just boil it in salted water and just a blob of butter ( ) on it to serve

the balsamic vinegar sounds good. I can see how those flavours would go nicely together. I'll give it a try.

Thanks Righ

The way I do it is to marinade it in a little olive oil and soy sauce in a zip top bag then either put it on the grill or under the broiler until just tender. MMMM

Oh, under the broiler! I had not thought of that, it sounds like it would be similar to the bbq.

Thanks!

I've had asparagus soup before that was really good. It's a traditional German soup.

I just take a little bit of EVOO and salt and pepper, cover with tinfoil and pop in the oven. I have had the soy sauce version and it was great, but have yet to try it myself. Thanks for the reminder

i never used to like asparagus until recently...my suspicion is that when i've had it in the past, it wasn't cooked correctly, or was overcooked. I have never tried cooking it myself though, perhaps i'll try some of these suggestions :)

Teach, you should try it, it's so good. Only I suggest trying it cooked a few different ways. Here why: When it is lightly cooked it has a lighter flavor(this is how I like it), then when it is cooked longer it has a real strong flavor, I can't stand that flavor. But lightly cooked it's great! :D
