HEALTHY TIP:
Diet soda may have no calories, but it contains artificial sweetener, which actually will make us hungrier
because when the body gets ready to digest the 'carbohydrates', it finds there are none. This leads to a desire to eat more.

As far as the hormones, that would have to be a question to ask your doctor, because I do not know how one would go about trying to counteract their side effects... as far as living healthy and eating right and exercising, just take some time and read through the different threads here... there is a wealth of information! You can do it!

Welcome, Dottie! :)

You said you take hormones... It depends on which kinds of hormones. If it is for hormone replacement therapy,

"HT does not cause weight gain
An increase in body fat, especially around the abdomen, can occur during menopause because of our own hormonal changes, although exactly why this happens is not clear. The age-related decrease in muscle tissue and the slowing down of the metabolism can also contribute to weight gain.

Various studies prove that weight gain is not linked to HT. If a woman is prone to weight gain during her middle years, she will do so regardless of whether or not she uses HT. Some women may experience symptoms at the start of treatment, including bloating and breast fullness, which may be misinterpreted as weight gain. These symptoms usually disappear once the therapy doses are modified to suit the individual." Source

However, I don't want to jump to the conclusion that it is HT, and even if it is, it is up to you to decide if the benefits outweigh these effects. It might get better over time if you have just started therapy.

Good luck with your goals. :)
