Well I didn't think it was possible. I kept getting back on the scale to see if it was a mistake, but I did lose another pound this week. I'm 133 now. I guess the puffy look is just a look and not fat coming back - -thank the stars for that. lol

I really hope I can continue 1 pound a week for the next 13 weeks, because that would mean by mid April I'd be at my goal weight. I'd really like that. Although I suspect it won't be quite that quick or easy - I can hope and try!

I also REALLY hope that sometime in March we get some weather that lets me get out of the house to WALK. I miss that. I used to be able to drop weight better when I could walk every day. And the toning - I could use that. Until then, I'm going to try to "dance" every day. I've been looking for something else to do. My portable mini cycle just doesn't thrill me anymore. I haven't been doing any exercise for weeks now. So I asked my b/f if he thought dance would work - and we decided I'd start with 5 minutes with a goal of working up to 15. Then evaluate and add from there. Of course, this will be behind closed doors - my family already thinks I'm terribly strange as it is - they don't need to see me dancing alone!

PS: (edit) My b/f suggested a belly dance class. But I really can't spend money on anything extra yet - so I'm going to try to do figure 8's with my hips and loosen myself up as best I can. Maybe after I get everything else in order I can take a class. That would be quite cool for the flexibility and control - but also for the killer abs it would produce.

hi flg!

congrats on losing another pound! :happydance:

i think dancing would definately work! Why don't you either borrow a bellydancing dvd from the library or get some kind of instructional video about it? If you don't want to do either of those, when i was taking bellydance classes i actually would look up moves on the internet when i was at home so i could practice...they have videos demonstrating how to do things. I don't have the link here but i can send it to you from home if you like. I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find.

 Yeah :congratulations: on another pound gone!!

Dancing is very good... make sure you do 'the twist' and work your pelvic area to extremes and make every move larger and bigger than it needs to be. With doing dance as exercise, some days you can do more on the cardio level and others more on the stretching/toning level! HAVE FUN!

Oh neat, Shy! What great ideas. :goodidea: Yes, please email me if you find the links, I'd love it.

I'm going to check my library web site and see if they have anything on belly dancing, too. Thanks for the idea!

I just watched a video on YouTube - wow - I would LOVE to look like the woman in that video. I like the curvy and feminine look more than I like the "body competition" look - and I think it is more realistic that I could achieve the former. lol. (My b/f's ex has the latter - and competes - she's 6 inches taller than me and 8 pounds lighter than my current weight!)

This is the really cool video I saw on YouTube:

i like the curvy and feminine look more myself as well :) Of course, not everyone is shaped that way, but i think i am, once i get the fat roll off my middle i should look quite curvy lol I think bellydancing is good for that, and besides, bellydancers are supposed to have a belly!

Shy you really make me feel good about this. Thanks.

My library has such a demand for the videos that they won't even put them on hold anymore. Drat! But I did manage to put a book on hold - it should arrive in about 3 weeks they think.

I'm sort of jazzed about this. I mean, maybe I'll stink at it - and maybe I'll get tired of it because I haven't actually tried it, but my chances for liking it are pretty high. My b/f was saying he thought I'd really like it because of the times I said I was so happy I literally danced to some music on a movie on tv one day. And, when I was really young I used to pretend to be a belly dancer. He claims I'm built for it ... so we shall see! LOL

Just FYI ...

Discussion in a general thread prompted me to start posting super simple, fast recipes in the food section. The first two are:

Pumpkin Soup

Apple Jam

wow! i never thought the bellydancing vids at the library would be so popular!

:happydance:

I think you will like it. When i was taking the classes, it was alot of fun, and you feel kind of ridiculous at first but then when you get into it..it makes you feel very feminine and attractive :bouncy:

i just realized i forgot about the links. I'll do that tonight, and if i don't send me a pm to remind me!

Thank you, Shy and Sapphire. Those links look so helpful! I'll write more about that later, but sadly I"m in a very crabby mood.

I debated about quitting today. I debated about not coming to the forum. Why? I got on the scale this morning and it went UP. What the he**. It says I'm about 134.5! That would be 1-1/2 pound increase. I expected it to drop almost 2 pounds today. What the he** is this?

The only things I can think of are these:
I'm smack dab in the middle of TOM. Usually that doesn't bother me, but I'm on the pill and my pharmacy screwed up my prescript this month which sort of messed up my timing. Don't know if that might have affected water weight gain - but I know things are "different" and maybe it did. Woke up this morning and I feel like I'm just bloated all over. My face is quite shapeless right now. I did have a lot of salt last night - which I try to avoid the night before weigh in. Also - I haven't slept worth a darn for this whole week. I got about 5 hours a night - and those were fitful. I woke up at least once an hour or more. Been working like a crazy person on my final client project - and trying to get other things done too. Could all of this have sabbotaged me this week? Oh - and something had my sinuses draining even though I take allergy med at night - had me coughing all night. Plus my stomach is upset.

So there you have it. Melt down this week. Failure. Bah! I'm so angry.

Don't be angry - sounds like you hit the motherload of bloatiness. Any one of those things could have caused bloating all of those together I would almost bet on it... :huggs:

Thank you, Nic. I just feel so devastated by this. I even ADDED in dancing for exercise this week - and was able to do at least 3 days of 15 minutes dancing where I got really hot and sweaty - followed by my yoga stretching for another 15 mins after. I was so good. :( I'm so tempted to eat NOTHING this week in retaliation, but I know that is wrong. I just feel icky.

I think I'm really messed up physically. It is so ironic that just last week I thought, "I must have either beat fibromylagia, or my docs original diagnosis was wrong - because I feel so good." And now this week, my sleep has gone to pieces just as bad as it was back in 2006 at its worst. I'm so discouraged. But, I'm going to try to get it under control again. When I was sticking with a really regimented bed time routine / time etc, I was able to get restful sleep. Maybe I can do it again. I really blew it this last week staying up until 2:am working most nights - and then not sleeping well after. I feel like a walking zombie. I do NOT feel like exercising one bit - but I"m going to try to make myself do some - maybe it will help with my sleep later tonight. Ugh. I just feel dead. :(

Feather, hope a few of these help :huggs: :huggs: :huggs: :huggs: :huggs: :huggs:
One of my main things with sleeping is that Ii dream all night and it feels like I haven't slept all night because the dreams are so real and I feel like I'm living them all night.
I hope you are able to sort your sleeping out real soon because I know what it's like to wake up tired! :huggs:

Thank you so much, Purrrple. It does help.

What you describe about dreaming is something I do too. It is really quite maddening to me. It sometimes seems like I spend almost all my sleep time in dreams. I can drift off to sleep and fall right into one. And they're so vivid. I was reading a book about fibro once written by a dr., and he said that was a common sleep issue. Other than that book, and me, I didn't know of anyone else who ever experienced that. My b/f, being the guy that he is, says, "don't you ever dream about sex instead of all that stressful crap?" LMAO. Yeah, he's such a guy isn't he?

Fingers crossed I can sleep tonight. I sewed myself a sleep mask (keeps the light from waking me up in the morning) ... I'm going to try to tune in some white noise on the radio ... and do my other little things that used to help. Wish me luck. God, I need some good sleep!
