Prin, your diet is looking REALLY good - you did FANTASTIC over the long weekend - one pizza meal does not negate all the good choices you made. I know what you mean when you talk about convenience choices. One of the ways I got to stop thinking of healthy food as less convenient was by stopping to buy almost ALL convenience foods. Except I will buy convenient healthy foods. That way I make it more convenient to eat healthy. I won't eat mac-n-cheese if I have to make it from scratch - it's easier to pour marinara sauce over the pasta... Same thing w snacks - I try to cut up veggies when I buy them and keep a big bowl of fruit on the table. Snacky foods like crackers I keep in an INCONVENIENT cupboard, so it's EASIER for me to choose the fruit or veggies from the fridge vs going to the basement pantry... I freeze ahead meal-sized portions of soups and stuff for dinner. I eat cereal for dinner or lunch when I'm really in a rush (calorie and nutrition wise it's not so bad). |

May 29th: I started the day off good! Breakfast: 1/2 Whole Wheat English Muffin w/Peanut Butter-155 calories Lunch-Steak Tacos w/Red Beans & Rice-683 calories 2oz. Steak 1 Tortillas 1/4 cup cheese 1 tbsp. Sour Cream Onion Tomato Black Olives 1/2 Avocado 1/2 cup Rice w/Red Beans Apple-72 calories Yogurt-85 calories Dinner-Turkey & Tomato Sandwich-297 calories 1 slice Whole Wheat Bread 3 slice Turkey 1 slice Provolone Cheese 1 tbsp. Canola Mayonnaise 1 Roma Tomato Brussel Sprouts Cheetos-160 calories Total: 1372 calories, 62 grams Protein, 22 grams of Fiber! This is where I was at 8:00pm tonight. A little low on calories so I was planning a salad for a little later. (I have been staying up until about 2am this week) Then after an incredible hard night trying to get one of my children to sleep (which resulted in tears for me) I grabbed 6 Keebler cookies and a handful of butterscotch chips. 6 cookies- 480 calories-WOW they were so small. Handful of butterscotch chip-? I don't know but at 80 calories of a tbsp. it can't be preety! So now I'm at 2012 calories, plus the butterscotch chips

i know what you mean princess! something you can try, don't know if it would work for you...but if you are hungry in the summertime and you know you don't need to eat, have a glass of ice water/ice tea and eat the ice..lol...sounds weird but it still feels like you are eating... this happens to me all the time, the uncontrollable urge to eat. now for some analysis of why you might have had this urge today. I am looking at your food diary. You really were low on protein and fats...i suspect this is why you ate alot later on in the day! So i am thinking if you tried to eat more protein earlier in the day you may have better luck controlling the eating later on...it actually works pretty well for me too. hugs! |

Thanks for the tip Shy I will have to try that! I think that you are right about the protein, the last two mornings I have just eaten whatever and it has effected me big time. Sunday I did OK but I had to remind myself over and over "don't eat that, don't eat that. Monday I did OK until the afternoon and then I lost it. I blame part on my choice for breakfast, lack of protein and part on the stress in my life, like $800 to fix my truck!!! Good news is that I recovered quickly from yesterdays eating rant and woke up this morning ready to tackle the day. I am having such a good day food wise that I can not wait to log my food for the day! Since starting back every morning I grab a 1/2 English Muffin w/Peanut Butter (155 Calories and 7 grams of protein) my body seems to like that, and goes crazy when I change. After two days of trying to change my breakfast (because I wanted to eat whatever) Lessoned Learned: English muffin it is!!! This time around I have keeped a daily food journal and have tried to be very honest with it, and I am learning so much. I really believe this to be my biggest tool and helper, so if you are not already keeping a journal you might want to think about it.

Prin, I haven't checked in here in a while & I just wanted to congratulate you on some MAJOR changes. A few weeks ago you were eating 600+ calories of sweets per day, you seem to have got that under control w a few planned indulgences like the chocolate espresso beans - that's a HUGE progress, and you should feel really proud of yourself! I also noticed the other night when you overate you said you were "back to my old self" -- really? you had 3 chicken nuggets and ONE slice of pizza... would your old self have stopped there? (my old self would have had a LOT more) -- so maybe there is progress there too. My diet coach has a great saying about the "falling off the wagon" periods -- try to make them less frequent, shorter, and less deep. I think this one was good on all fronts -- and that, my friend, is PROGRESS!!! |

Thanks Sarah, and you are right I am getting a little better each time , at least until today. I have TONS of calories today. I woke up feeling miserable and I cound not rest because my husband was in meetings all day and I picked up my truck and its still not fixed after $800. Really just alot of stuff went wrong today. I know that they are all just excuses but I do feel that if I felt better that I could have delt with day better. Better luck tommorrow. After seeing Teachs diary I decided to post this: Thanks Teach, I really need to stay honest!!! English muffin w Peanut Butter Yogurt Subway Salad Teddy Grahams Taco Bell And TONS of Ice Cream, I brought a 4 pack of cones and I ate them all!!! I did so good yesterday only to have the worst day since returning, I hope tommorrow is better Edited by Princess2one, Jun 4 2008, 10:30 PM.

I have not posted a food log for three weeks. I am a little embarrassed to admit why since my reasoning for not doing so is minor compared to what I have done the last three weeks. It was a Thursday, three weeks ago, that I decide that I would not post my log for the day because it was around 2400 calories!!! Well since then I have probably had that many or more calories everyday. I just did not want to post another really bad day. But it gets worse, I have not had breakfast in a week or so. And for the last two days I have not eaten before 4pm or 5pm. Just too busy. I really need to make a conscious effort everyday or I forget that I even want to get healthy. Does this happen to anyone else? I didn't ever think "I'm not going to be healthy today" It just happened for 21 days!!! I plan on starting again tommorow with my food log. Just wanted to let everyone know where I'm at. Edited by Princess2one, Jun 26 2008, 03:21 PM.

Thanks Teach! I'm glad that stumble's are helping someone. I think that I would do better if I would get up and exercise, but as of yet that has not happened. I really could only fit it in early in the morning and I choose to sleep. This is going to be one of my new goals. I have had no desire to eat the last three days and have had very little calories, this is what I've had today. Breakfast- 1 egg w/spinach Lunch- 1 cup Chicken Alfredo w/ tomatoes Dinner- carrot sticks, 1/2 cup yogurt with flax seed and honey 8oz milk-This is for later, I'm forcing myself to drink it for the protein. Hopefully all is better tommorow!
